I promoted my listings to pay eBay an additional 10% to promote my items, but really didn't think that would apply to shipping and taxes too, I sold an item for $40 but with shipping to far away zip code it cost another $25 and with taxes came to over $73, eBay charged $7.30 to promote not the $4 I was expecting, just saying watch out.

But seriously, with such comments, you take the conversation back to step one instead of advancing it and discussing the good and the bad about the subject matter.

I guess I don't understand your problem with it, other than you don't like it. I don't like it either. eBay's not going to change it b/c we don't like it. So, that leaves us 2 choices in my mind, to use it or don't. I'm not trying to be flip or snarky. I'm a very logical sort, so what I just typed out is how I view it. It really doesn't matter why I may not like it or that I wish eBay would do it differently or how I wish they'd seek out other revenue sources. It's irrelevant. Complaining about it isn't going to change it. As a user of this platform, the only choice I have is to determine if it makes sense for me to use, or not. That's truly how I see it.

You don't "have to" use PL and if you do want to use PL you can choose any rate you want as long as it's 2% or more. If 10% is too much then lower the rate.
