After what seems like forever. I have received a check from FedEx for the cost of shipping on an item that took over a month to deliver. So filing a complaint with the BBB does work. So Pburn you are wrong. (If you have read my previous post about filing a complaint against FedEx you know what I am talking about.)
If you have talked to a fedex supervisor and can't get anywhere then take action with the BBB. The more people that call **bleep** on them then they will have to make some changes.

Congratulations.

I can assure you for every one of your success stories there is mine where I contacted the BBB and they were useless.
What happened in my opinion is that BBB just presented their case. It was the company itself in your case that figured to save their reputation, time and energy was to just pay you off. You probably would have gotten the same results if you spoke with upper management at Fed Ex, the ones with authority to give you a refund.
In my case, the seller was dishonest and could not care less what BBB said or did. And the BBB told me they have no enforcement ability, they can only work with the seller and hope he will comply. And in my case he would not. I never got my refund, but thankfully soon after he went out of business.

So, your conclusion that the BBB did something would only be valid if the only action you took was filing a complaint with the BBB.
Since you contacted FedEx, it is possible that the decision happened simply within FedEx, and without any external pressure ... for example, a superviser reviewed the circumstances and approved a refund.

Ditto. My experiences with the BBB have been the same. Had Ontrac either steak or misdeliver a package and they took no responsibility and insisted that their investigation showed the driver delivered it to my house. My camera footage for that day proves otherwise. The only thing the BBB did was inform ontrac of my complaint and give us a means of communication but that it was it. I also know for a fact that a business can buy A ratings by joining the BBB.

Good job. Its nice to hear a seller won for once. Best regards

Have you happened to notice that the rating for this site is A+?
Do you think that's correct?

According to the link you provided, eBay has a "star" rating of 3.75 out of 5. That's 75%. I wish that would have been an A+ when I was in school.
75% sounds about right for eBay; however, that's just not an A+ to most people. More like a C-.
The BBB has FedEx rated an A+ as well, with a even lower "star" rating of 3.7 out of 5. That's 74%.

More fun facts directly from eBay's page on the BBB website. It gives me no confidence in the BBB rating system.
"Comprised of 67% BBB Rating and 33% Customer Review Rating.
"The BBB Customer Review Rating represents the customer's opinion of the business. The Customer Review Rating percentages are based on the total number of positive, neutral, and negative reviews posted.
"The BBB letter grade represents the BBB's opinion of how the business is likely to interact with its customers. The BBB grade is based on BBB file information about the business. In some cases, a business' grade may be lowered if the BBB does not have sufficient information about the business despite BBB's requests for that information from the business.
"The BBB Customer Review Rating plus the BBB Rating is not a guarantee of a business' reliability or performance. BBB recommends that consumers consider a business' BBB Rating and Customer Review Rating in addition to all other available information about the business."

Must be the new math
6% positive or neutral reviews, 94% negative = A+
Companies pay for A ratings?? Say it ain't so!

The BBB is useless. I e tried every way to get back $400 I was scammed out of. Not here. I couldn’t win a chargeback, BBB did nothing. I’m out $400 and I have nothing. That’s the problem I can’t prove anything cause I can’t prove a negative. I’m pretty ticked off right now.

Google:
Terrorist Group Hamas gets A+ BBB rating
The results are from 2010 or so, but it does look like anyone could (still can?) "buy" a good rating?

You folks are missing the point. The BBB can not do anything to companies that are not members. Do you remember when the BBB dropped Montegermy Wards. Their stocks Tanked. I am not saying that they can and will help everybody. But look on the BBB site for yourselves. You will see that FedEx responds to feedback left and they respond to complaints. If they did not care or wish to keep a good rating why would they respond. Check the site and decide for yourself's. Don't listen to me or anyone else on these post's. Check on FedEx at the BBB. And I did talk to upper mangement at FedEx.
