Vacation and long handling time

Well I'm going to be out of town for 8 days and thought I would extend my handling time to 9 or 10 days and put my store on vacation mode and let my listings be seen.  Anyone see a downside to that?  Is there a better way to handle this? Or maybe folks find it easier to just close it down for the week? Opinions, please.

TIA

I’ve done exactly as you described with no issues. Extending your handling time is a wise decision since placing your items in time away can still be seen by those watching.

You don't need to extend the handling time if you are on vacation mode.

Yep.  Just put your store on vacation mode for a few extra days to be safe, say 10 days in your case, and then just end the vacation mode when you get back in the seller saddle.

Thanks for this link. I'm going to bookmark it myself since I'm 5 months pregnant. In about 4 months I guess I will be doing my first "time away" mode 🙂

Vacation and long handling time

Here's what I do when I go away for a week, which I do - Saturday to Saturday - fairly often.  When I'm done my last packing before anything else I put my store on Vacation. Along about Thursday before the weekend I'm arriving home I take it off vacation and bulk change my handling time to 3 days (making the 3rd day on the weekend, thus Monday or later shipping .)  When I get caught up on Monday or, as last 6 months I've not a lot listed/sold, Sunday, I change back to 1 day shipping.

Thanks everyone. I'll just use the time away.

Put all your Listings on Time Away.

Don't allow them to be seen while you are away.

Do one or the other, not both.  If you do both, you're handling time will be doubled, b/c putting yourself on Time Away, automatically extends your handling time.  Verified this in April, when I did both, assuming they hadn't fixed it yet, but it had been fixed & so my handling time was doubled, which was not what I wanted.

ETA:  Your choice on whether you want items visible & purchaseable.  I ALWAYS leave them visible & have had no problems at all.  Just be careful not to send out offers while you're gone, b/c that negates the Time Away handling time & it will fall back to your normal handling time for those items.   It is an exception built into the rules, as was GSP, not sure if EIS is too.

We use it all the time add 2 days each side of your trip. You do not have to change handling time. eBay does it automatically. Never had an issue.

There is no downside IF you will still have internet access and can respond to any buyer messages. The other danger regardless if you hide your listings or not is failing to respond to an open  case of any type because you will get an unresolved by seller mega-defect.

Every Summer I am away a couple of times for about a month each, every Summer It seems that I get one case opened while I'm away and because I am completely off the grid during those times  I end up with an unresolved defect.
