Are we not going to be able to use our own photo's and item description when posting?

Why wouldn't you be able to?

Hi,
I was reading the Fall seller update, and people were complaining about using ebay photo's. It sounded like we have to choose photo's from the catalog. That thread was a mess, was hard to make sence.

The way I read it is that you do not have to use eBay’s catalogue pictures. You can still create your own.
BUT eBay can, at their whim, steal your photos and put them in the catalogue for anyone else to use. You know those who are too lazy, camera illiterate or underhanded to take their own pictures.

Maybe we can find that reflection in the silver teapot of the naked guy taking the photo. I can see that one being used for laughs pretty often.
I can only assume eBay is being picky about the photos they catalogue. Please skip the ones that show rings on scabby hands, penknives held in grubby hands dark with ground-in dirt. Also, exclude the photos where the item is sitting on the grease-grimmed stove with stuck-on food still in evidence around the burners. And many of us are turned off by the photos that include half of the kitchen sink in the background, obviously not having had a good scrub-out in months. Hopefully don't add photos of items posed on toilet tanks and seats, even though the bathroom lighting may be good.
Might also be a good idea to skip those photos showing us the items spread out on the unmade rumpled bedding, even with the skivvies off to the side. We don't need to see the bare feet with gross fungus-riddled toenails sticking into the edge of the pic when a book collection is spread out on the floor, nor the clothing on the floor when it's obviously adrift in pet fur, dust bunnies, and food crumbs. I didn't think the clothing piece hung from the curtain rod, against the window glass was too bad, but the cobweb with dead bugs between window and storm didn't really add much to the desirability of that item.
Actually, that photo catalog may be a long time in the creating.

I remember that ummm...interesting picture! (Blush!) I think it is an urban legend by now!
Do you remember the equally memorable and popular shots on the listing for grow lights? Pics shown how well the lights worked, with lush marijuana plants growing there for all to see! This was many years ago before it was legal ANYWHERE!

I didn't read anything that suggests you can't use your own pics. Watermarking your pics is no longer allowed, though.

Of course you can. eBay isn't requiring anyone to use catalog photos.

Especially since it would be impossible for the catalog to be all inclusive.

Even when a catalog photo is available, they're not requiring us to use it.

Many buyers don't like stock pictures. I don't. They either make the item look better, or worse, than it really does.
New thing is, no watermarks allowed anymore.
