I just received an email (and message) directly from eBay:
A system error has affected the data, so eBay is temporarily removing any cost information sellers have entered.
Rest assured: your cost info was never visible to buyers or other sellers, and your earnings and payouts were not impacted.
As a gesture of goodwill, eBay is issuing a $25 account credit to sellers who used the feature. This will appear in your account within 24–48 hours.
eBay will notify us when the feature is available again, and we’ll be able to re-enter our information then.

What is the “Your Cost “ feature. I never heard of it.
eBay usually sends information and updates to your eBay messages as well as your email. I would be suspicious if it is not also in your eBay messages.

The new “Your cost” feature eBay introduced recently (announced during eBay Open 2025). This tool allowed sellers to enter their own item costs to better track profitability right inside Seller Hub.
And yes, I also received it in messages just a bit later.

This is due to an annual increase in system activity experienced during this period, which has caused processing delays.

It was mentioned during the eBay OPEN25 presentations in August.
Some sellers have been asking for a Cost of Goods (COG) field in the listing process for a long time.
The process would allow sellers to enter their COG when creating listings.
Then, I believe, the transaction details after an eBay sale will subtract the COG from the order earnings, showing the seller a "net" profit number, probably in the monthly sales reports.
Of course, the Order Earnings money sent to the seller's checking account would not be reduced.
I think the test of this process was going to start with sellers who list using the app, as opposed to a computer.
There have been a few threads started here in the Selling Community questioning a "Your Cost" item shown in some sales details.
All that said -- eBay's offer of a $25.00 account credit for those sellers who have been affected is very generous! Congratulations !?!

@ebooksdiva It's just the COGS field that was announced at Open & then there was a bug with the few sellers that had it in their views. There's another thread about the bug.

Thanks, but I didn’t need 2 more people chiming in to tell me what the OP already answered.

well, now, in fairness - I have periodically seen a question on these boards and I think to myself “I know the answer to that”. So I jump on and explain. Unfortunately, between interruptions, re-read and re-phrase, why is my coffee mug empty, etc, it frequently takes a lot longer to post an answer than the length pf the answer suggests.
So I post it anyways only to find that some others have already beat me to it. Oh well, I just hope some Diva doesn’t crack my knuckles for piling on when all I was doing was trying to help.
