Unusually activity with Ebay Messages.

I get a message in my external email from Ebay Messages from someone asking about a listed item, to which I reply through Ebay Messages. The reply is in my Ebay Messages sent folder. Soon after I get this message on my external email titled, Returned mail: see transcript for details, and it shows the Ebay member's email address and says, 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable
<<< 554 5.5.1 Error: no valid recipients If I used the Ebay messaging system why is it bouncing back into my external email?

Just as YOU get notified of eBay messages through your external email, so do buyers.  It goes to both places, for both people on both received and sent messages.

The message sent through eBay's messaging system may have reached the other member's eBay inbox, but bounced at their email server.

But if I SENT the message through Ebay and then Ebay sent THEM the message, why does it bounce to MY email? The recipient wouldn't have my email to bounce back to if Ebay sent them the message.

Because the sent message is coming from YOU and eBay.  So the bounce message goes to you.

Let's assume it's a glitch.  Who's the message from? Did you look them up? Are they an active user? If so you can send them a message by clicking on "contact user" (or something like that).  Answer their  question that way.

It's coming from me THROUGH Ebay. Ebay doesn't allow direct emails between members prior to a transaction.

Here is the easy way...

1. Ignore personal email completely in this regard.

2. Go to ebay messages

Is there a message from the buyer there?

If no, ignore it all.

If yes and you wish to reply to it, do so.

Is this what transpired?

You replied to a message in ebay?

Or did you look up the member according to the email you received and then sent them a message?

Because if this is what happened then it is very possible someone tried to contact you outside of ebay if you get my drift, and the member whom you tried to message is just a prop they used.

Read:  You need an email address to register an account on ebay, but this email address need not be valid.

Let's say i got a email AND ebay message from you asking about a shirt i sell. "Do you have this in a extra large?" That's normal. Nothing wrong there. I try to respond to you via ebay message "No, i only have it in a medium" but i get an error message.

I would assume it's a temporary glitch and try again later.

OR

I would look you up on ebay, see that you are a registered user from your feedback page. Then click on "contact member" to send you a message and answer your question.
