I sold an item, buyer didn't pay. I opened a Unpaid Item case. Come to find out the buyer's acct was hacked into.
I received an email:
If you already sent the item(s) and they haven’t been delivered yet, please contact your shipping carrier to find out if you can stop the shipment.
- We have credited all associated fees except for the final value fee for your listing(s).

They don't. You have to close the unpaid item claim yourself within 36 days after the transaction, or it will just expire.

Unauthorized use of buyer account – Transaction(s) cancelled, but the item is still showing in my sold items and there is still a charge for the FVFs. At what point do they release the item and credit me the FVFs? What does it mean the transaction is cancelled? Thanks. This is part of email also:Please do not ship any items that were purchased by xxxxxxx and disregard any bids they may have placed on any of your listings. We’re working with the account owner to prevent any additional unauthorized activity.

Is the UID still open? Can you close it and give the buyer a strike? If you can't because ebay cancelled the transaction, then unfortunately you'll need to call them to get your FVF's back.

I wonder if they can, seeing as ebay cancelled the transaction.
Nice of ebay to keep the FVF's if they can't close the UID ......

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to avoid having to call Ebay and that y'all would tell me just give it time or something. lol
It makes no sense to see that buyer's acct was hacked why not go ahead and put my item back in inventory and go ahead and remove the FVFs.

I called Ebay. Since I opened a Unpaid Item case, I still have to wait until 9-21 to close the case and then I'll get the FVF credited and the item will appear in inventory.
I'll just have to wait it out. It just seems odd to me, since the transaction is not fault of mine, why they can't go ahead and close the case since they cancelled the transaction. Oh well, it's not that big a deal but just seems odd.
Thanks again everyone.

Is your Unpaid Item dispute still running? If so, and it's been open for more than four days, you can close it, and that should trigger the credit of your FVFs. (That is the usual point at which they are credited.)
EDIT: Whoops, I just saw your post above... okay, you should have your credit once you close the UPI after the 96-hour window.
One other thing you might look into is setting up the automated Unpaid Item Assistant. It will open a case automatically following a waiting time for payment that you select, and will block the buyer from leaving feedback unless or until he actually pays. It also closes out the UPI after a 4+ waiting time, again using a duration that you select.
