Understanding Dropshipping (Product Sourcing) Policy with eBay

Hi,

The following statement was mentioned in this official page - Drop shipping and product sourcing | eBay

Drop shipping, where you fulfill orders directly from a wholesale supplier, is allowed on eBay.
Remember that if you use drop shipping, you’re still responsible for the safe delivery of the item within the time frame stated in your listing and for the buyer’s overall satisfaction with their purchase.
However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay.

As I understand, there are a few methods for product sourcing -

  1. Dropshipping suppliers, for a hands-off experience
  2. Wholesalers, to sell third-party goods
  3. Manufacturers, if you want to create custom products

If I understand correctly,

eBay only approves Wholesalers and Manufacturers

they don't approve Dropshipping suppliers such as those mentioned

  • AutoDS Warehouse & Private Suppliers
  • Walmart
  • AliExpress
  • Banggood
  • CJDropshipping
  • The Home Depot
  • Etsy
  • Costco
  • Wayfair
  • Overstock
  • Lowe’s
  • Target
  • Alibaba
  • Costway
  • Costway
  • Shein
  • Amazon
  • DHGate

I'm new on this platform, and which to avoid all those advertisements as mentioned above that don't follow the policies of the company.

If that is so, can you please share best practices for finding wholesale suppliers?

Thanks for your informative post.  To be honest, most the people on this forum are DO NOT like drop shipping or drop shippers.  Most are dishonest as to where they are located, they send the wrong products to the customers because someone else is actually doing it for them and many are drop shipping from 3rd party retailers, which is violating ebay policy.  Lots of them are located overseas from the US and are suspended because they are inexperienced and do not know what they're doing.  To me drop shipping has ruined this platform in so many ways.  If this is a choice you are considering I advise you to re-consider.  You can find whole suppliers by googling it.  I'm sure you see many out there.

Good luck to you.

As I understand the policy, you cannot list products on ebay turnaround and purchase the same item from a retailer and have that retailer ship that product directly. Keyword "Retailer". In your list above you have commingled suppliers and retailers. For example, you cannot list a drill saw on eBay, then purchase it from Home Depot who is running a sale on that product, and then have it shipped directly.  AutoDS is the first one on your list which to my knowledge is a third party supplier that has integration into eBay. I don't think for one minute that eBay would allow that integration to exist if it violated their policy. The policy states you cannot purchase

from another retailer or marketplace

Most if not ALL of those on your list are NOT dropshipping suppliers, they are RETAILERS and no, you are not allowed to sell to buyers and then have those RETAILERS send the good to your buyers.

What AutoDS does is against policy.

They pull ads from other retail sites so their members can list them on Ebay, which is not allowed.

Have a great day.

@Anonymous - @kensgiftshop  is exactly right on this. AutoDS is not a supplier, they are simply a software company that scrapes data from retail sites and automates much of the process - but at the end of the day, if you use their service, you are still listings items for sale on eBay that you do not have in your possession and then ordering them from another retail site (Amazon, Walmart etc.) to ship to your eBay buyer.

AutoDS calls those retail sites "suppliers" in their marketing materials to obfuscate what it is they are actually doing - which is just one of many red flags that should cause any honest seller to run far away.
