(Un)luck-of-the-draw seller algorithm blackouts

As individual seller blackouts, or curtailed listing exposures, seems to be an always ubiquitous thread here on the boards, I thought I would ask the question: How long do these last? Does anybody know? Ebay admits they exist,  and most of us have had *proof in the pudding* validations, to that effect. And also, are these seller blackouts individually based, or are entire blocks of sellers, in a given selling venue, affected simultaneously? For something which is obviously so prevalent, it seems to be the elephant in the room, for eBay having much of a written word about them. Personally, I feel that blackout exposures very from a few days to several weeks or more.  It is of my own opinion that the seller blackouts are the most severe detriment a seller can be exposed to. I know many of you have your own eBay bugaboo's, thus that is just my own personal take.

I can go look at "impressions" in the sellers hub, but not sure if they are to be believed.

On one account on Feb 4th, and 5th the "impressions" rate was in the 1000 area(one just over, one just under) for both days. Much higher that normal for the small seller that I am.  Zero sales those days.

As I see no days with "zero" impressions it would indicate that the pages with my items, even though not viewed, are being seen, so not a "blackout" situation.

I was once told that it's rather like the fingers on one's hand. Consider the tips of the fingers as the listings that will be seen and the area between the fingers are your listings that will not be seen. So I guess that would make it not a 100% Total Blackout, if there's any truth to it.

I just wonder how many times a seller continually drops their prices,  because they see their watclist is not increasing

and no one is purchasing their item, when truth be told, their listing(s) aren't even being seen. Drop the price as they will, that's probably not going to do much good, if nobody sees it. 😒
