What gives?
I send from time to time packages from Norway to the US of A as registered letters. Through ebay i get all the details about the package and its current location, but if i log on to USPS' website it says tracking not available... What is the logic behind this exactly?

Have the packages actually made it to the US? I don't think USPS will actually start to track until the package reaches the US. (I could be wrong, though)

I know that there has been some comotion surrounding registered letters because of all those that come from china... "added costs" etc, but it shouldn't cost them anything more to give out that information through official channels.
I'm suspecting some sort of ebay/paypal-USPS collaboration...
Here is information for a package that is in the us right as shown with ebay tracking, now search for the same number on usps.com and nothing..

USPS only shows tracking for international registered for some countries.

The countries are here....

USPS (and Canuka Post) deliberately hides publicly-viewable tracking --
of incoming international registered mail:

eBay has an inside track to the tracking as it continues within the country.
