USPS signature confirmation proof of delivery showing an empty box

Hi everyone, i have recently begun selling on here after a couple year hiatus. I recently sold a higher priced item (iphone xs max) to a new member id. I normally dont sell to new members because of the fraud that seems so rampant especially on higher priced items. After payment was made, i exchanged some messages with the buyer and i decided to ship the item. The buyers address was showing confirmed and eligible for seller protection on paypal.

Buyers address was in Wilmington, Delaware 19805. (im also concerned that the address may be one of those freight forwarder business??)

Package was delivered however when i requested the proof of delivery through USPS the pdf file just shows a BLANK BOX UNDER RECIPIENT AND ADDRESS OF RECIPIENT! Very frustrating to say the least. It does state that package was delivered but there is no signature visible.

What protection do i have if the buyer decides to file a item not received case?

The package was insured through the post office, should i try reaching out to them or file some sort of claim because signature was not obtained despite paying for the service?

Also what measures are you all taking to prevent fraud these days?

It seems after every item i sell, i get unsolicited messages from random usernames pretending to be the buyer asking for item to be shipped to another address.

If tracking shows delivered to the address that paypal gave you, then you are covered. Delivered means delivered. The tracking is proof of delivery for ebay.

Not when the total payment for the item is over $750.

Then an online viewable signature (the Signature Confirmation service from USPS) is required

Bummer!

So if one contracts with USPS for proof of delivery by signature confirmation, for the reason that paypal and or ebay require a signiture instead of or as well as tracking delivery confirmation, for items over a certain value,  and USPS fails to collect a signature for what ever reason,  even when their internal tracking shows delivery confirmation,  then that would be breach of contract and it would seem then that the USPS would be liable to mitigate any damages to the seller.

If not, then the contract for that USPS service itself would be meaningless and worthless to anyone other than enriching the USPS.

Thanks for the info. Since I don't sell things more that a couple hundred dollars at most on ebay, I was unaware of paypal/ebay refusing to back a seller, if they do in fact, for selling $750+ items without signature but with delivery confirmation.

USPS signature only confirms receipt of package, right?  Is there any shipping service where the inside is inspected and the recipient confirms that his or her desired item is inside and intact?

Also, if you think the buyer is sketchy then can you cancel the order without penalty?

This is what i see on the USPS website.... no mention of signature which is again very frustrating.

When you pop open the Product Information panel @quepasowilly:

USPS Product Information Signature Confirmation Signed for By.jpg

did you buy Signature Confirmation?

I purchased the signature confirmation service thats available to check off on ebays print label screen. It's the service that's automatically checked when purchases are above 750

Yes I did purchase signature confirmation and insurance which is confirmed here on the product information page.

Again no buyer has not contacting me or mentioned anything,  my concerns are all just speculative and what ifs ar this point.  I did go ahead and submit a claim through usps.com just so it can be on record.

I had contacted the delivering post office and she was able to give me the name of the person accepting package however that information is not showing up for me online. She said she would update it but nothing yet

So does the "Product Information" section say "Postal Product: Signature Confirmation" in your USPS tracking. Can you post another screenshot?

It's already showing, in the screenshot of the post preceding yours. It's listed as "Signature Service" in the Product Information section.

I'd be curious to see the "Proof of Delivery" section expanded, too.

That's an odd view.  Under the product panel, yours shows something different from the other that is shown up thread - instead of Signature Confirmation, yours shows "Signature Service."  ??

What shows under the Proof of Delivery panel?

Since you are sure the Signature Confirmation option was checked when you printed the label (and the cost would show up in your receipt also) then I don't think there is a way for the carrier to complete the delivery scan without a signature.  There must be something written on the scanner or scanned from the peach slip, otherwise you can't get past that screen.  And tracking could not show as Delivered.

If you have time, you might want to go into your post office with this tracking screen to show to a supervisor or postmaster.  See if they can figure out/explain why no proof of signature is showing (unless it is under that Proof of Delivery section).

It is definitely troubling if it really is possible to get a delivery scan without a signature on packages with Signature Confirmation.

Under the proof of delivery panel is just shows the option to have the proof of delivery document sent to you. The proof that I request I uploaded above which showed the delivered status but empty boxes under where the signature should have been.

Was a signature delivery required?

You should let sleeping dogs lie.

If a buyer doesn't get it they'll definitely let you know.

They might have it but the carrier failed to get a signature but the buyer might not know known a sig was required by you-----Do you know the BUYER has to say they haven't rec'd it in order for USPS to pay a not delivered claim to you?  Filing a claim is poking the bear!  A sig delivery isn't required for USPS insurance, but since it shows delivered a not delivered claim will be denied by USPS and it will alert the buyer you don't think it was rec'd.  When buyers think the sellers doesn't know or think it was received they might file a not received claim.  You should've waited until the buyer contacted you before you filled a claim with usps.

As long as the package shows delivered with the tracking provided there is no way a buyer will win a not received case on Ebay. On PP  tracking showing delivered should work as well. The exception to this is if the buyer files a phony chargeback for item not received. The credit card companies WANT TO SEE/REQUIRE SIGNATURE TRACKING.

If I spent my time worrying about every possible trouble I would get no sleep.

No case has been opened?

No problem.
