This is a follow up post to - Buyer opened a case, I have no control of the situ... - The eBay Community
So as the title states, I just received an email saying the package will be still on transit to the buyer even after the fact that he's been refunded... I don't understand why they rejected it but tracking still hasn't updated, and I think I'll have to file for insurance claim. Has anyone had this happen to them before? This is my first as a seller so it's confusing as in how nothing is working out right now. I doubt the buyer will send the item back either considering the rarity of it on the market now.

Also, I just did a search on the buyer. Coincidently, there is one match, same name, same town and he's a USPS worker... is there a chance I got scammed? Did he pick up his own package without signing for it?

You should contact the PO.
You will not be able to file insurance unless the USPS damaged the item...
If you are trying to have the package returned to you, instead of being delivered, you will need to contact and pay the PO.

I found the guy on facebook. He posted a video of the item installed in his PC AND he works for USPS... Item isn't damaged or lost, he has it but he somehow checked it out of the processing center without signing for it and filed a case against me for a refund.

Another post update. Ebay denied my appeal. They said they "are basing our decision based on the given data and objective information." I literally have his address, name, facebook gaming channel and a video showing the RTX 3080 Vision GPU dated the SAME DATE it was supposed to be delivered as evidence and Ebay can't take it. Holy sht I've never been so frustrated in my life. Can I even claim my insurance from USPS if tracking never updates? How do I know this guy isn't still on the other end manipulating it?

If the package does not get a delivery scan within 15 days from the day you ship it yes (assuming its priority mail) the package would qualify for an insurance claim. Also USPS is farm more likely to pay a missing item claim then a damaged claim. I have never not been paid on a missing item claim where the package did not get scanned delivered.

File police report with your town and the town in which he lives. You might also want to file ic3 report. When you have the numbers you can re-appeal to eBay and present your evidence.
When you file for insurance, you might want to include a link showing their employee with the items.

Because USPS tells you before you even order package intercept that it is not guaranteed it will be intercepted. This is why when you order a intercept and you give USPS you card info for billing, it's not billed unless the package is actually intercepted, then it's billed.
All the buyer needs to do is reject the package and USPS will have to send it back to sender, which is a no charge. I had one of these over December, package sent priority and never delivered in mid Jan, by that time buyer opened a INR case and I refunded, ordered an intercept but USPS lost the package for several weeks and if they can't find the package within a certain time, they will cancel your intercept request and then when they do find it they just deliver it to recipient because that prior request no longer shows in their system once they cancel it. But the buyer can just refuse the package and USPS will then just return it to sender... happened to me with that package and has happened in the past few times also.

and yes, you can claim the insurance on the package, though USPS doesn't make it easy, file the claim online, then USPS will send you a letter in the mail, usually asking for the same info you already gave them, then in about a month or 2 you may get a check.

The buyer is maybe one of 2 in the area with that name and I know it's him because he flaunted the GPU on stream on his facebook on the same day it was scheduled to arrive. His facebook gaming ID is the same as his paypal ID and eBay isn't letting me use that kind of evidence bc they "need the tracking to show it was delivered" before they can do anything. I doubt this guy is gonna send it back to me, it's already installed on his PC and he's a USPS worker so idk what power he has on the inside to keep the tracking # stuck in transit. Dude literally made a eBay account on that same day just to pull this off...

Also file a report/case with the USPS Postal Inspectors.
The employee may find this will be a very expensive "purchase".

I read that (after my reply). Sounds like the guy had it all planed out prior, and ebay may not be able to do anything, but USPS maybe can, by calling and filing a complaint against the worker and just giving them all the info ebay won't take into account, because, they are not allowed to take parcels, even if it for them, prior to actual delivery, and even if they let it slide, because they didn't scan package as delivered is grounds to be fired by USPS because that is still considered theft + it leaves USPS responsible to fulfill an insurance claim so it's actually fraud too. In the end you may still loose on this (unless USPS takes your complaint seriously and investigates and pays you the insurance claim) but the outcome for the buyer can potentially be much much worse by losing his employment and maybe face charges as well. I hate to say do that to someone, but it's not a small purchase, I'm sure you sold for at least going retail price which would be $500 at least.

...that's what I was about to tell the OP...thank you for your input...
...this is the Postal Inspection contact # 877-876-2455...giving them as much information as possible...make sure you ask for a case # at the end of your conversation...use the case # to file appeal with eBay CS...good luck...!
...also, USPS has not rejected your request for intercepting your package yet...it takes a little extra time...when you see the charge appears on your posted payment then your package is on the way back to you...

ah, sorry, was thinking console, but was computer GPU...still likely a costly item.

I'll give the number a shot. Apparently the Marvin White I think is the buyer is actually the manager of the processing facility... It's all so suspicious and it works out too well for him.
Also the email I got from USPS stated "Your package will not be delivered to the new domestic destination you requested. The package will continue to its original destination and your credit card will not be charged."
I am pretty sure the guy manages all claims and requests for that facility. Hoping higher ups have a look at this cuz Ebay hasn't done a single thing for me but take my money.
