This hasn't happened to me in awhile but hate when it does. Yesterday I had two auctions that ended with bids and still no payment for either. They were early bidders; both bid days in advance to the end time so I am making the assumptions they haven't been online or don't have time to do the payment at the moment. I am also taking into consideration it is a holiday week and things may be a little topsy turvy for some people.
All that said, I am giving them until tomorrow and if I still dont't recieve payment I will send a friendly reminder. Don't you just hate when this happens?

Some buyers just forget or don't have the time or money.
I set up automatic UpI, so if payment isn't received within 24 hrs, eBay sends them a reminder to pay.

Sorry to hear this! Yes I hate it!
3 days ago I had a 10 day auction going to someone outbid the highest bidder the last 10 mins.
The next day he messaged me saying he would pay the following day...2 days later he messaged me saying that he moved to NY and his bank was in CA, so he didn't have the money to pay...there should be an IQ test before being allowed to use eBay..
Fortunatley after cancelling the transaction I was able to inform him on how to 'not bid like a child'. He LOVED that..not

He moved to NY and his bank is in CA and some way this prevented him access to his money? And he expected you to believe this ridiculous excuse? Good grief, I think I've heard it all.
I am hoping my bidders/winners are just busy or forgot. I will find out if I hear back from them tomorrow when I said reminder. If they still don't pay I am opening an UPI case on Saturday morning. Hope it doesn't come to that.

He said when he gets his pay stubs he has to send it to his bank in California. I was like you're kidding me..
I've seen worse antics by banks.
It's quite possible it's true, due to security purposes.

Nope, not at all. Probably because I have reasonable expectations on when payment should be made. Fretting about it enough to post in the forums after 1 day seems a little over the top. No offense. If it had been 4 days, maybe. Especially considering you have no payment time requirements in your listings, so perhaps they are under the impression that it's okay to wait a few days or don't even get paid for a couple of days.
I do like that you expect payment right away (without saying it in your listings), but only ship once a week. I understand the reason why you can only ship once a week, don't get me wrong.

I'm also automated. Some people are somewhat slow to pay but most come through in the end, albiet after an ebay warning email. One that recently was never paid for was sold to an international who never asked ahead of time the shipping rate (most of my books provide the rate based on weight but not bigger books, they need to ask).

@ripcityresell Look again. My auctions are all listed as TRS+ with one day handling time. These two wins will be sent within 1 day of payment. My auction buyers usually pay immediately when the auction ends.
You seem rather blunt. No offense.

Frankly, your options are somewhat limited. Of course, you can avoid non and slow payers merely by using IPR with fixed price listings.
You can, of course, file a UID after 48 hours and close it 96 hours later. I, however, usually give the buyer at least 3 days as indicated in my TOS. Even then, I usually send a non-threatening reminder a day before beginning the UID process. If they pay, I thank them for their business and ship the item. If they don't, I close the UID after 96 hours giving them a strike and go about my business after putting them on my BBL.

I did look, so if you have 1 day handling, then you should avoid any confusion and take this out of your listing descriptions:
"PLEASE NOTE DUE TO PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS I USUALLY CAN ONLY SHIP ONCE A WEEK: ON FRIDAYS. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING."
I take no offense to being called blunt. I most certainly am and honestly, sometimes people need to hear things straight without the sugar coating to make them feel all tingly inside. I don't usually mean to offend, and I know it can come across that way.
If you haven't gotten payment yet, I hope you do soon. Have a good weekend.

imho:
1) auto 4 days upi set up.
2) daily auto reminder from eBay to winner/buyer regarding payment.
3) after 4 days of non payment - upi strike to winner/buyer.
No reminder ever send from us asking for payment.
Let the UPI + eBay reminders do the 'leg work'.
@klassic*kids ...
so if the winner paid after Friday ... does it mean, you'll only be able to
send the item out by the following Friday? or after the weekends - Monday??

Hi Lucas,
Typically all of my auctions end Thursday early in the day and generally I receive immediate payment. They get shipped on Friday with the rest of bins from the week. *However* in cases like these 2 items (though one did pay late last night), so now only remaning 1 awaiting payment case, if they pay after Friday I do make provisions and get the sale shipped 1 day after payment whenever that may be. It's just a slight inconvenience to me, but I always meet my shipping requirement.
It's a system I have in place that has been working thus far. If it stops working I will change things.

Appreciate your clarification.
After I posted that question just out of curiosity - I thought it should not even matter -
as each merchant handle their own operations as they see fit.
Still, yes - it does throw a wrench into a smooth set up. By which you've already
set up contingency plans for such as these.
We don't send out payment reminders - just let the eBay auto UPI do its leg work.
