I'm trying to list my first item to sell - well under the 10 item / $750 limit - and every time I try to complete the draft and list the item eBay redirects me to a page saying I need to increase my selling limit. When I call the number they provide all I get is a machine telling me I can try to increase the limit in 30 days.... This seems ridiculous that I'm having to make a post about this, but any ideas on how to proceed?

You just opened your account in February and you were given a limit that you were allowed to list for sale or sell in a month. After 30 days you can request an increase and Ebay will determine if you get one based on your history. Ebay only allows one increase every 30 days so until March 27 you will not be able to request an increase in your listings amounts.

Right, I'm still trying to list my very first item though... not my 11th

Use the help tab at the top of your myebay page and follow through that way. There is a chance you do not have everything set up correctly? Once you get a person give them all the details and have them walk you through starting your first listing.
Good Luck Selling!
