Ebay is frustrating. I am trying to return an item and the process has started and I have the email with the order number and return number. I click on the email link and I get a "technical error" message. I am trying to get information and this site is useless. Frustrated 😠

Did you file for a Request for Return with your Seller? If you didn't, you need to do that first. Then the seller will issue you a return shipping label. The process is really easy, so there is likely something you are misunderstanding.
But lets start with did you file the claim? If you did, go back into the claim and access the return shipping label, then print it, attach it to your package and mail it.

Go and take a look at your purchase history. You can find it on the top right of any Ebay page. Hover over the words My Ebay. A menu will appear, click on Purchase history. Find the transaction. Look to the right there is likely to be a large blue box you can click on that says Return This Item.
OR
eBay Help page

1. Go to Purchase history.
2. Select More actions beside your item and then Return this Item.
3. Now you select the reason you are requesting the return for refund.
4. You have the option of adding a message to the seller.
5. Select Send request.

Did you try to contact the seller before you file a return? Sometimes things can be worked out between the seller and buyer with correspondence. If the don't reply, then start the return process. One more thing...is the seller still an active seller? Just a thought...
Good luck to you

No I could not since ebay doesn't have any record that I purchased this item or that I even started the return. Everytime I click on the email link to see return details I get a technical error message. I went through messenger with a representative and that yielded nothing.

Yes I did all of this.

Did you pay the seller for the item off of the eBay platform? If this is the case, you have no recourse for a return. All sales must be thru the eBay platform and the payment method that eBay provides for buyers. Reads to me like a scam seller. Sad.
Please note that you can do a charge back on your CC/Paypal account and can get your money back with all the right info...hopefully. Check into it or contact your payment provider that you used to pay for the item. Why are you using 2 ID's to post here? We here normally reply to the OP and this is a totally different ID.
Good luck to you!

Can you explain exactly what you've done so far to return your item?
Did you actually open an item not as described request?
