Trying to Start Allowing Returns on All Items

Hi all. Every couple weeks or so, ebay messages me with a tip to become a Top Rated Plus seller. The qualification I'm missing is that when I set up my account in Aug 2023, I failed to allow returns. Now I want to allow returns and, despite bulk-selecting all listings and checking the box to allow 30 day returns, nothing changes.

Is there a working way to alter existing listings in bulk and also to ensure future offerings reflect free returns?

Thank you for any insight into what should be a seemingly simple edit.

In order to qualify for TRS plus you must offer 30 day free returns (seller pays) AND have 1 day handling time.
If you are using Business Policies you would change your returns there or create a new returns policy then reassign your returns policies by clicking on the no returns policy and your new returns policy then click reassign.

You need to create a business policy, or edit your existing policy.

TopRated Plus is not a seller status; it's a badge assigned to listings that offer 1-day handling and 30-day "free" returns.  About half of your listings do not offer free returns; the others do show the TR-Plus badge.

took a quick look at your items listed.

They all seem very reasonable low-priced items and no need to offer returns, except for the Dooney purse.

Just my opinion. Is it worth seeking that 'top rated plus seller discount', when you have to work harder to get it and maintain it? As other's commented of the requirement of '1-day handling and 30-day "free" returns'.

On the Dooney purse. That will be a target for scammers to take advantage of your 'allow returns'. I would not entertain a return and be sure to ship with signature required. Do your homework on the buyer before shipping.

I'm no pro at purses. Not sure if eBay has an authentication process on them or not. Might even entertain pick-up only / pay then.

I'm sure others who know more on purses can add on to this post.

best wishes.

Exactly what “harder work” do you have to do to get TRS+ status and maintain it?

I am a TRS+ and I have been for years. The work that I do which gets me that status is no harder than the  work I would do even if that status did not exist. I ship within one day, and frequently the same day. I accurately and fully describe what I sell (as a result my return rate is typically 1/2 of 1%), I take all my own pictures (stock photos are a bane) and I stand behind any mistakes that are made (I have never made a claim of infallibility).

I do not do those things for the TRS+ status (although obviously I am pleased at the perks it gets me) I do those things because I am in competition with who knows how many other sellers. And the better I do my job the greater the likelihood that I, and not my competitor, is going to make the sale. How do you think I got to 50,000 +?
