I know Ebay used to have a way to block messages from buyers. Whomever decided to take that away needs to rethink their decision. I've started messaging them back. I'm not a person that just ignores things and will never be, so, I guess if I get kicked off it's whatever. Forcing the seller to have their inbox filled with messages from a troll is not fair for us at all. If I block someone, I obviously don't want to deal with them.
If your response is just "ignore".... No thanks. Ebay needs to change their policy here. End of story.

I am sure you have that box checked, people will get in thru the back door and ask away.I find it especially stupid that the box to check is no wheres near the BBL list.I think that is by design.in fact I am sure that ebay does not like sellers adding users to the BBL list.............the EASY button was taken out of the dispute console years ago, then when you went to close out a UPI 10 years ago it asked if you wanted the buyer added to your BBL.
this was a very convenient feature for me in regards to deadbeat bidders. I think that it worked too good and ebay got rid of the easy link or box to check off

Yup. Agreed. First post I've seen so far that is actually the way things are and were. I've been selling off and on for 14 years here and it was MUCH better for sellers back then.... like astronomically better. It seems we have less and less protection and tools to protect ourselves every year. It's starting to wear on me.... so, I will just do as I see fit and let the chips fall where they may.

Yes, go right ahead. I did this same testing with someone else a week or two ago, and our conclusion was that if you'd had no prior contact with that user (or perhaps no prior contact within the past 30 days or so), the BBL block combined with the preferences option for no contact would work. That other person I tested with did get a bounce message back saying that I was "unable to respond" to them or some such message, but it's true that this block only seems to work under certain conditions. I don't think you can shut the door and block contact from a current bidder or buyer, or anyone to whom you have already responded at least once.
You can also block bidders by seller preference settings to keep out anyone with more than a couple of Unpaid Item slaps (and you can see any recent occurrences of that in your Buyer Requirements Activity Log, which you can find here: https://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?BuyerRequirementsActivityLog). I think the No Contact option will also act to block messages from those deadbeat bidders as well.

So the guy I'm referencing has never bought from me. One of my items he thinks is too expensive, so he messages me daily about it. I have that box checked. Why can he still contact me?
You can set up blocks, but as another poster mentioned... if you've had dealings (to/from) with them before, the block won't 'hold' until some time has passed. Someone said 30 days... I actually thought it was 90.
Ignore them till then... Good luck!

@davescollectables1978 wrote:No. I confirmed this with Ebay this morning. They took that option away because eff us sellers, right? Unless you know something I don't there is no option to block messages from buyers anymore. Meh. When I'm bored I will troll them back. If my acct gets closed because of it, I don't care. This place is getting worse and worse for us sellers anyways, might as well do as I see fit til I leave....
Send them Jabberwocky parodies - I can almost guarantee after a few of those you'll never hear back again.

Why can he still contact me? Also, why did the person at Ebay customer service also say that you can't block buyer messages? That box may exist, but it doesn't work, at least not for me. Also, if you search this topic on this forum... you will see other people saying "I have that box checked and they can still contact me". So.... we can even test it if you like. To clarify, I know that you can block bidders/buyers from bidding and buying. What you can't do is block buyer messages and I will prove that to anyone who wants to test it. As I have done all of the steps you can possibly do to block them
I'm just plain sick of it....
I think after you reply to him the first time, he has the option to harass you for the next x number of days (don't remember if that's 30, 60, or 90).
That's why you can't block him now.

I 100% agree with you. The last thing you want to do is to fuel a troll. They are bored people that have nothing to do and replying to them will just give them the juice to continue. Eventually they will go away once they realize that you don't pay any attention to them. Then they will go on to their lonely, sad, merry way and find someone else to harass. It is never ending with them.
