Tracking updates

Why is Tracking still not up to date, even though the product has already been delivered to the consumer?

Tracking updates

Sounds like a question for USPS.

Tracking updates

I assume your talking about eBay's tracking, they're are a little slow sometimes. Always go to the USPS website to find the truth.

Tracking updates

If you are looking on Ebay for the most current tracking information, that can cause you some disappointments at times.  While Ebay does pull their information directly from the appropriate carriers, Ebay is NOT on real time.  They do update a few times during a day, but again still not real time.  If you want the most current tracking go to the carrier site and call up the tracking.  If that is still not updated, then you have a carrier issue which is completely outside of Ebay's control.

If you are talking about the tracking on the shipping carrier's site, that is a question for the carrier.

If you are talking about the eBay site not matching the shipping carrier, that is not a real-time process and any number of factors could be delaying the sync.

As a software engineer for web-based software, at any time we have tens of thousands of background jobs that have been assigned a priority level and submitted to a queue for processing. We have a set of job processors that each grab the next job from the queue and handle them in priority order.

If there are a large number of high-priority jobs in the queue, the processors cannot keep up and low-priority jobs could sit in the queue for days before being processed. And I suspect that updating tracking is not a particularly high-priority job at eBay.
