I am a TRS (Not TRS PLus).  When eBay began allowing buyers to return an item for any reason (ex. "I do not like the item") it changed the game for me. Let me explain....to qualify for the 10% discount & TRS listing badge you are now required to offer free, 30 day returns -- in addition to all the other seller dashboard criteria, including free shipping. This combination -- free shipping & free returns -- creates a situation where the seller loses money on a free return. The seller cost to ship the item is not refunded. As such, I have stopped offering free returns which, in turn, disqualifies me from gettinh a discount & the listing badge.

That being the case, I am asking myself -- why bother to be a TRS? There is no longer any benefit as far as I can see. Am I missing something?

Free shipping is not a requirement for being a TRS or for having a TRS listing but yes, free returns is required for a trs listing.

Supposedly there is a small 'boost' in search if you are TRS but I doubt that really affects us. Also,  I believe that in the US you do get a slightly higher discount on USPS postage if you are a TRS. Other than that, there really aren't any benefits. But on the other hand, what is the downside of being TRS? Unless you want to ship your items without tracking, I don't see a downside to keeping your TRS.

If want the befits here I would do I detailed returns policy. It be something like this: if item Want item. Item must be same condation as shown in photos as well buyer paying for shiping back. If item item is new and opened I will get 50% of the total sale. If item  is used I get 25%. Reurns may be made withen 30 days of me shiping it out.

If item is broken Buyer Must show photos to get instint refound.WIll get 100% item cost.IF item is broken by buyer sending it back buyer will get nothing.Buyer Must pay for shiping on this.

You aren't going to get any extra benefits by specifying rules for your return policy. You're also not  allowed to do many of the things that you mentioned.

Aside from the small discount in USPS postage with getting Commercial Plus rates, there isn't really any benefit ... I'm not sure a boost in search is a reality.

TRS basically has the same benefits as being a Power Seller.

You're correct and not missing anything.  10% discount will not cover shipping cost. Of course, it's depends what are you selling.

Good luck.

The only thing that I know of is TRS gets $30.00 fee credit on promoted listings each quarter.

YES!  Yes, you are missing the most important items of being TRS.

Just to recap:  TRS and TRS+ are two different things.

TRS+ = Is a LISTING status.  If you listings qualify for this [0-1 day handling & Free Returns] then on these listings you are entitled to a 10% discount on your FVF.  So for every $1000 worth of DOMESTIC  sales you will save approximately $10.  This is the ONLY benefit for this classification of your listing.

TRS = Is your SELLER status.  If you qualify for TRS there are several important benefits.  Some are better discounts on certain shipping methods, better search placement and $100 worth of insurance on PM instead of $50.

Being TRS is not hard to hang onto.  Just consistently ship within your stated handling time, upload tracking and provide good customer service to your customers.
