We sell a lot of water & pond plants, and during the late spring/early summer it is always a race to get fresh, live plants to customers before the heat gets to them. So I didn't think much about when a customer complained (even w/o a photo) about getting yellow plants, and I immediately sent him free replacements about two weeks ago. Today, I get another complaint email about more dead plants when he opened the box today. Then I find out that he's only home once every week or two... so his plants (both times) had sat in a box, dying, for up to two weeks before he ever opened them up! And this is (of course) all MY fault and he's demanding a refund - and he got it. So, I'm out time, 2x sets of product + 2x postage. I've had idiots like this one before and it does no good at all to argue logic with them. It's always 100% MY WAY or negative feedback.

Unfortunately there's no cure or vaccine for stupidity, so the best we can do is block those that are known to us. Since Ebay and most all these third party selling venues are run by bots, with no human eyes looking at the circumstances,  we can assume that sellers are going to be funding the stupid for many years to come.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

People keep trying to legislate it, but they seem to be like Don Quixote - chasing the impossible dream and tilting at windmills.

Not saying 'NO' doesn't mean 'YES'.

The foolishness of one's actions or words is determined by the number of witnesses.

Perhaps if Brains were described as an APP, many people would use them more often.

Respect, like money, is only of 'worth' when it is earned - with all due respect, it can not be ordained, legislated or coerced. Anonymous

I would have been tempted to ask if he would expect to buy live animals and have them not be dead by the time he got around to opening the box.

Hi, I have a question.

I wanted to post my own thread about it especially since I've been selling to many happy customers for a few YEARS now- but hey- when I try to start a new thread it says "Access Privileges Denied". The good news is when I try to call the helpline that's buried in a google search I AM NOT PUT IN CONTACT WITH AN ACTUAL HUMAN BEING BUT A RECORDED MESSAGE THAT DOES NOT HELP ME AT ALL!!!!!

So since eBay's employees have decided to abandon any and all support on the eBay platform and now we're all in this anarchy/mutiny situation with them clearly not giving a rat's derriere about providing even the slightest amount of support, I have no recourse but to spam existing threads from people who do NOT WORK for eBay asking **bleep** I'm supposed to do??!! (Apparently, eBay really liked Uber's model for how to treat those intending to make a profit off their service like complete garbage.)

And now onto my situation, which I'm sure NONE of you will be able to help me with because, hey, you all don't work for eBay in any official capacity:

I was trying to sell a GPU. The phone app makes it appear as if a payment's still processing. Relisted it after assuming the payment didn't process. The buyer INITIALLY opened a claim claiming they did initiate the payment. Went on the web browser and voila, only the desktop version of the site gave the correct status of the payment.

So, I apologized to the buyer. He marked a new item to buy/bid on. I gave specific details that it was a different item. I figured by today he'd closed the claim, but it's still open. I go there and lo and behold there was something about a different item and him not being able to see his order in the buyer history.

I reached out to the buyer TWICE in the past two days! He has not responded. From the tracking it appears that they attempted delivery on Tuesday. The buyer has not responded to me AT ALL. If he has a physical disability that makes it hard for him to drive/walk to the post office to receive the order, all that he'd have to do is tell me. Likewise how am I supposed to know whether or not it was some kid who ordered the graphics card on their parents computer and their mom and pop asked them to take it back??

The point is there is STILL a hold for the purchase even though I have sent the item that the buyer clicked on for me to deliver to them. I need to know if/when the buyer received the package and if the post office is likely going to send it back to me after enough days of waiting, I just need to make sure the buyer gets their fair refund. If the buyer did get the package and they're holding out on the payment- well I just need the payment! I was going to put some of it towards my car registration this coming month!

Anyway, I have a fun project we all can do during quarantine! Are there any sellers on here who are civil attorneys? I'm sure there's at least one. How about we sue eBay and drive them the hell out of town??!! I'm totally down for that!

Unfortunately, there are certain types of items - fragile, heavy, perishable, etc. - that will always put the seller at a disadvantage compare with other items.

That is the best chuckle I had in a long time! Touché!

They really need to up the block list number. I just blocked 5 people today for various reasons... Bad enough sales are low, but also to get scammed by eBay on the few sales I get?

Some people never cease to amaze me, especially the stupid one's. Why order plants when you're not going to be around to take care of them?

Maybe it's stupidity, maybe it's a thief who got beaucoup free plants. Either way, ebay covers them. My sympathies.

Hi, @themikenesedude , it's a little awkward to reply since this is someone else's thread, but I see the glitches are preventing you from posting on a separate topic. I do think you can find some help for your issues here. I had a few questions too that will help us direct you.

First, to reach customer service during this pandemic, eBay has allowed email in place of their regular phone help. Also, you can contact them thru eBay's Twitter or Facebook page. I have heard positive things about these alternate methods. To send the email, click on Help & Contact on most any eBay page.

"..I was trying to sell a GPU. The phone app makes it appear as if a payment's still processing. Relisted it after assuming the payment didn't process..."

This assumption has cost you. While the app is convenient, it also has its limitations. Did you cancel the first sale before relisting so that you got your Final Value fees refunded?

"...I figured by today he'd closed the claim, but it's still open..."

What kind of claim did the buyer open? So, how many transactions has this buyer had with you? Two?

"... From the tracking it appears that they attempted delivery on Tuesday. The buyer has not responded to me AT ALL..."

An attempted delivery is usually enough to satisfy eBay that the item has been received. From the Money Back Guarantee policy:

"..Information required to prove a successful on-time delivery is all of the following:

  • A delivery status of "delivered" or "attempted delivery" (or equivalent in the country to which the item was delivered).."

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy/ebay-money-back-guarantee-policy...

So if the buyer has opened a Not Received claim,  after you upload the tracking number to the case, contact eBay and have them close the case in your favor. As soon as a claim is open, eBay places a funds hold on the disputed transaction. Once the matter is closed, those funds are released and either paid to the seller as his remittance or paid to the buyer as reimbursement, depending on the outcome.

"...How about we sue eBay .."

Below is the link to the eBay User Agreement, which all sellers should read and familiarize themselves with so they are prepared to sell on the platform with greater success and oftentimes much less hassle. Sellers agree to Binding Arbitration in lieu of court proceedings, with a few exceptions.
