I am tired of ebay changing my settings without my permission. They are always trying to force me into offering shipping discounts and making offers to customers. They changed my shipping to automatically offer shipping discounts and I just lost money for shipping because I was not aware of the change effective 15 May.

I don't use calculated shipping so the change didn't affect me. I know it was posted on the seller news page a while before it took effect. Also, I remember getting an email from eBay about the changes and why they were doing it.
Sorry you didn't see either. My recommendation is in the future to at least once a month visit the seller news page to keep up with anything new.

All three of my personal accounts and the accounts used at work received a Message from eBay regarding this change. Both Message and the direct email copy were received well in advance of the change. Made it easy to turn it off at work and on one of my personal accounts. The other two use eBay Standard Letter shipping and were not affected (no discount to be 'revealed').
When I make changes like this to account settings, I also take a minute to recheck addressing details and other settings that might affect the bottom line. Belt-and-suspenders -- eBay says they only changed X, but sometimes that will affect Y and Z as well, or accidentally.
If it was just the one sale that burned, consider yourself lucky and don't forget to check both your on-site Messages as well as your email. There have been periods when eBay has not kept the two in sync...

I also do not use calculated shipping like theteamsetguy . I do have shipping set up as fixed and have many tiers that accommodate different prices, handling times, carriers, and certain exclusions (areas available to ship to).

Don't beat yourself up for the error... it's behind you. Go forward a bit wiser and more cautious. Good luck.
