Whenever something sells (which is more and more uncommon these days), I usually get an email that says something like "Your item has sold". Today I received a message with the above title. When I read the message, however, fortunately there was no shipping label, only encouragement to buy a label from ebay. For the record, I NEVER buy labels through ebay. But it kind of got me thinking that maybe ebay does intend to force us to purchase labels from them instead of another source. This would really annoy me if it does come to pass.
Wondering if this possibility is a concern to others?

Do not worry about tomorrow for today has enough trouble of it's own..

Ha! I haven't gotten that email yet!
Thanks for the heads up!

Got it yesterday. Confused me for a moment. I think it's just their way to try and make things easier to get you to hurry and ship it out.
As for forcing you to only use eBay for labels. Anything is possible, but it's highly unlikely.

I don't know why you wouldn't buy through eBay. You get a discount on the price and $100 of insurance on Priority Mail.

I just looked and notice the standard message notification for an item sale changed sometime over the weekend. The new ones are titled like that.
From: "The payment from <buyer> is confirmed: <item>"
To: "Here's a shipping label for your sold item: <item>"
I guess transitioning as part of how Seller Hub works for the new month? But doesn't hurt to push for those postage fees too.

True of a lot of other postal sources, too, outside of taking it to the post office yourself. Ebay isn't offering you anything special that they aren't.

Reason for not shipping through ebay is twofold: I have more than one selling ID, so I use Stamps.com which allows me to print a batch of labels for all accounts at the same time and also check on tracking status as well.
Second reason is that Stamps.com always gives me correct UPS rates, whereas ebay hits me up for a huge unexpected added charge some time after the shipment.

Because 3rd party shipping providers offer reporting that eBay doesn't and because I can get better rates through those providers.
@goodboyrex, I don't think it means eBay is going to force people to buy labels on eBay.
I saw another post about this on the Shipping board: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Shipping/I-guess-that-s-one-way-to-push-new-sellers-into-using-eBay/m-...

Tagging on: One of my selling accounts has started to receive that weird email too.
The other 2 of my selling accounts have not.

Instead of eBay pushing faster shipping by sellers, and trying to increase their bottom line; they should work with USPS To DELIVER ON TIME and UPDATE ACCURATE TRACKING! Very late deliveries by USPS is hurting sales, and creating more work for sellers filing MISSING PACKAGE CLAIMS with USPS. Out of 10 sales shipped via USPS I have had to open 8 CLAIMS. This poor serve is effecting everyone's bottom line. Ebay needs to fix what's broken not add more fuel to the existing fire.

And... when a buyer files for not receiving an item yet.... even though tracking is already in the system (because I bought labels through ebay).... and the shipping is late directly due to the shipping company... ebay still holds that against me on my account.... even if the seller does get the item the next day or whatever.... Check out your "Service Metrics" under your "Performance" Tab in your selling center, and see what they are reporting to you, that might jeopardize your Top Rated standings.... You will also notice that all returns (even if returns are not completed buy the buyer) are counted against you. Like if a buyer files a return for "Item not as described" and sends you a message saying hey, this ring is not as it said in the listing... "what can we do about this?" - and you tell the buyer (because you know the ring was exactly as described) - go ahead and send it back.... and the buyer doesn't send the ring back.... and the case closes because the buyer never returns the ring..... YUP - counted against you too.....
All of the returns alluded to here, were filed returns that were never returned by the buyer.... and they count them against me? *sigh*

I've received a few of these messages, too, and almost discarded them as eBay blather. This is one of the most STUPID of eBay messages. It does little to help the seller. I want a message that gives me immediate notice of a sale in the first few words of the message. Give me something simple like "SOLD, ship now" or "Sold, pending payment". If you want to make me happier, make sure all the pertinent information appears on the first page of the message--including fees and taxes as well as customer information--and do it at the expense of silly, page-eating graphics. If you want to tickle my fancy, give me back the option for an audio signal (remember the "ka-ching" or "bou-yah"?). No, eBay has once again taken steps to make the process less efficient with questionable value added--truly a rearranging the deck chairs on a sinking boat effort. I could go on with stupid changes, but I'd start talking about managed payments and comparing eBay to Amazon.

I agree this email "Here's a shipping label for your sold item" is really stupid.
EBAY PLEASE CHANGE IT BACK.
The subject sounds like spam, and I just ignore it.

It's a really confusing title. I haven't seen it yet, but heard from several seller friends who are getting it, that it makes no sense. What's new 😐

Where do you get your labels from?
