So I was thinking about this and when your in a live auction against another person and your getting down to the last few bids it gets quiet and the auctioneer slows down the whole process really slows down and in those precious few last bids things really get crazy right! So the key here is a live auctioneer in the last 5 seconds of the item ending an auctioneer will actually slow down the bidding and with all these esnipe programs there is simply not enough time to really get the auction going properly in those precious last seconds, and I always receive emails from people asking me to sell them the item for a bit more. So i was thinking if there were a special auctioneers auction where say within the last 5 seconds if 2 or more people bid the auction would automatically run for an additional 5 seconds or something, wouldn't that be cool!

I don't necessarily agree with it but it works fine on other sites I have sold on. They program in that the auctions end a certain time after the last bid. Platforms with far less interference that still take MOs etc.
Notice how ebay never has certain problems (like collecting $$) but always has others? Some of that is on purpose, imo. The we are not aware carp.

People buying from that site are different than most buyers here. And most GB auctions for guns have reserves.

Ebay isn't a live auction site, so your idea would not work.

@sunstreaker Here's a thought. If you want a REAL LIVE AUCTION you could try going to one?

LOL ...just reading the thread title I knew this would be about sniping/extending auctions ...blah blah blah. This is like the 18,692nd thread on the subject. Yes, I've kept track over the years.

Is this where this goes?

Yeah, I don't think you can compare eBay to Gunbroker
Yes they are different. I have sold there with no problem and never use reserves. Just start it with your bottom price. The way they program the last bid is I think 15 minutes and the auction ends. It's in their rules. Users there like it. Never had a bs return from there either. Don't get why everyone is so opposed to this thread. OP has a point. Just another view, that's all.

Think that's the reason many new OPs don't come back. People who are always on the boards form a wall as to what interests them. This topic is not nearly as overdone as feedback or reuse of postal supplies among others. If we don't like something we can move on without being negative about the topic or the poster. This happens on many of the boards.

It's not their fault if you don't like the idea whether it is old (to you) or not.

I've been saying this for years. I even suggested it once. The point being made here is not for a live auctioneer to be hired. whoever does not understand what she is saying, should really not make snotty remarks.
She is saying that the ebay system can be programmed to add an additional number of seconds in the last few minutes if more than one person is bidding.;And then keep adding the seconds as they bid, much like at a live auction. It can be done. It is not brain surgery. Why ebay does not do this is really a shame on them, and really not fair to sellers. Ebay and their sellers wpuld be profited more by doing this.
