That ebay commercial

Saw/heard it last night (NCAA basketball game that aired at midnight, lol) and I think it said guaranteed shipping in 3 days or less, not guaranteed delivery.

Did I hear incorrectly?

Doesn't matter.  To the average viewer, those phrases mean the same thing.

Not every seller on eBay has that guaranteed delivery/shipping selection. eBay needs to make it clear that it is on select items only (which they probably do in real fine print).

Anyway - that is why it's important for buyers to READ AND UNDERSTAND an entire listing That's something that eBay should be stressing with buyers.

I guarantee I'd be like white on rice for a guaranteed anything at midnight...
...right after finding that %^$#@ remote.

No different than the ads for the majority of the major sites - touting free shipping - sure - if I spend over $49, $75, have prime...

Some of you think it's just Ebay that doesn't put everything front and center and it's not. It's the way all businesses market. Barnes and Nobles offered free shipping - I went to purchase a book as a gift but it's not free shipping - only if you spend over $49 which you don't see until checkout.

Buyers have to read the fine print. Its just like the price match guarantee....its only certain sellers/listings/items. If ebay wants to make a commercial about these features, there should be a verbal statement saying it applies to sellers enrolled in the program.

That only applies to sellers that offer GD in 3 days or less.

I don't need the added expectations for my buyers.

I know, when I first started seeing the eBay commercials, I thought "Oh.... No...."
And yes, I've had a couple of buyers ask me to ship right away. I typically don't even respond because they will have a tracking number soon. I have one day shipping on most of my listings. If that's not fast enough, they're going to have to go somewhere else.

But to the knowledgeable, if it really did say guaranteed shipping in 3 days, that's just ebay-weaselspeak to allow them to come back and say 'Well, we never said delivery in 3 days ...'

That ebay commercial

I go away a lot to visit my parents for a week or two at a time.  I used to put the store on vacation and HIDE my listings so no one can purchase.  THe last few times I changed it up and put the store on vacationa and increased the Shipping time to 10 -15 BUSINESS days.  I was stunned to see how  many sales I received with an almost 3 week handling time.

I know some people want/need their items ASAP.  Really changed my way of thinking on how to handle vacation periods though.

I think e bay is really pushing the wrong avenues at times.

Now sure how numbers indicate that the vast majority of people born after 1984 have a microwave mentality, but ebay's numbers do...and so it goes.

ebay says lots of stuff that is just pushing an ebay agenda and I am dumbfounded at how many people believe them.  It's like the emperors new clothes.

The one I can prove isn't accurate is the buyers want tracking myth so they know when the item will get there.  That is such  a load.   I don't post tracking unless the buyer asks or the buyer looks like they will be a problem OR they file a snad, and around 85 - 90% of the buyers don't notice.  And the ones that do start phishing for an easy refund.

ebay wants sellers to depend on tracking so they can control the shipping process...and they offer an incentive that sellers can be punished for if they do not comply.

There are three basic ebay commercials and they each say and promise a different thing.  And do it poorly.  And they are not running them much since Friday.  I have only seen them three times since then and I cringe every time, but a week ago they were at least once an hour - especially during games.

Maybe they know that Amazon is outclassing them with their adorable singing boxes ad and its variants.

Hi, All,

I only saw the commercial once.  It was very quick, but I think it said guaranteed delivery in three days.

Nothing definitive here, but I remember thinking, maybe.
