E-Bay has no common sense at all when it comes to how they judge transactions. Their per transaction strategy has me (the guy selling custom computers) judged by transactions. Then they use the same scale to judge the guy selling pairs of socks. How does that make any sense? Last year I actually sold over 1000 custom computers which is a large number for one guy meanwhile the guy selling the pairs of socks probably averages 1000 sales a day. The margins on new computers are not high enough to support E-Bay Below Standard Tax increase so for the time being I am not longer offering the new products that I use to offer on E-Bay and I am only offering returns from my website. Honestly though I feel like E-Bay forgot it was me who wrote them a $45,000 check last year. No way I am paying $90,000 for the same products and services this year. On top of that the most frustating thing about the situation is that E-Bay gives new sellers a better rate than they give me the vetern who is in the computer trenches all day every day...

It's really also browse manipulation. One thing to have a sexy girl wearing the nightie that is being sold - quite another to post a sexy girl so people will click on your listing to see what the actual product it.
And as another said - if you were overwhelmed with orders - as soon as you realized you couldn't build all these computers - shut down your listings. You put yourself in jeopardy and can blame no one else.

After looking at a few of your listings and your feedback, I can't believe anyone would buy anything from you. You are your own worst enemy, it's not eBay.
In all honesty, the WORST thing a seller here can have is attitude and ego. You dont have to bend over backwards for every buyer, but try to act like a professional.

I detect a pattern of problems. Abdication on the horizon.

Hi,
So in reading your post and I believe you are mad because the percentage that e-bay takes from every listing? It's always going to be there, since that's how they have always worked. You can work to lower it by improving your feedback and seller rating. You could also become a power seller once some work has been done to bring up your account standing. Both directly influence your fees.
I don't want to beat you up too much but I agree with some of the other things said in this thread.
I would just say this,
You cannot be cheaper and better. It's a receipe for failure. Decide if premium service is your goal - and seriously aim to achieve it all costs. OR just be cheaper. You are competing an commodity based, higher competive space when you sell technology. Which I'm sure is why you don't like any higher costs eating your razor thin margins.
Good luck!

OP is upset because his fees went up due to being below standard.
Ebay recently announced that below standard sellers would be charged 4% more in fees.

That's right!

I live in a Dominion, does that make me a dominatrix?
Absolutely.

Sorry, typed response then hit quote so you probably didn't see it as it was backwards there! I just said, you're right! Just agreeing with you!
I hadn't taken into account that the evaluation can go back for a year if under 400 transaction, but it is for three months if they have more transactions, and it puzzled me when the OP said he had so many transactions, yet his problems started on Black Friday of last year, almost a year ago.
