Sudden interest from buyers in Japan?

just in the last few days I have received an offer on ND jersey. Shipping address is Beaverton, OR. Buyer profile says they are based in Japan.

Note: I don't ship international

Today. Sold a vintage McDonald's poster. Shipping address is 4283 express lane (suite#) in Sarasota, FL. Buyer profile says based in Japan.

Should I be concerned?

No- both addys are freight forwarders.  Japanese buyers are great buyers - you are fortunate!

@sextons-sweet-deals  I don't see any reason to be concerned. You ship to the freight forwarder, the forwarder ships to Japan. As long as your item shows delivered to the forwarder , INR isn't a concern. A return or INAD is always possible, but in my experience Japanese buyers are 1. often willing to spend more on an item than many US buyers and 2. unless there is a genuine problem with the item (damaged in shipment, wrong item sent, etc), you won't have a problem.

Of course, it's always possible that your buyer is a fraudster, but I see no particular reason to assume that.

I have gotten these but mostly from South American countries or Central America. Sounds like a freight forwarder is involved. The only thing that you may see that is out of the ordinary is a international fee that will be applied. You can check your fees once it clears.

I never had an issue with over a couple dozen of sales.

Very true!

Say I ship to freight forwarder with signature required. I always pack my items well. If the item arrives to the buyer damaged, who is then responsible?

thank you

You may be shipping to a buyer outside the US, but, when you ship to a freight forwarder, you're not shipping internationally.  Both of the addresses that you mention are probably freight forwarders.

I've used that FF in Oregon several times with no problems whatsoever. As stated above, the international fee will still apply.

The only reason to use Signature Confirmation would be to maintain your seller protection against an Item Not Received dispute on a sale of $750 or more, per eBay rules. Below $750, the standard Delivery Confirmation will give you the same INR dispute protection for free. (Proof of delivery is only needed to the City and ZIP of the address you received with the payment, which in your case would be the reshipping company. It doesn't matter how long they take to forward the item to the buyer's final address.)

You are responsible for getting the item to the buyer in the condition in which it was sold, but if he decides to return it, he will need to do his own shipping back to the reshipping company in the U.S., because that is from where your return label will originate if you need to send one.

Speaking for myself, I have always had very good sales to Japanese collectors (as has the spouse, with jazz record sales), and they are often happy to pay more than American buyers to get what they want.

If you are in fact, in the United States and you are being asked to send something to Oregon --
You will not be shipping international.  Oregon is still one of the 50 United States, last I heard.
Still filling the space between California and the State of Washington.
I don't think they have a plan to secede . . . . . . .

the location / address are freight forwarders. The buyers profile state they are located in Japan.

even if you decide to ship to a freight forwarder, you are still open for international fraud. Do your research on the possible scenarios. Many posts already on here to read.

There - I fixed it for you. 😊

Fraud is fraud. The buyer can be anywhere in the world. A Notre Dame jersey or McDonalds poster is not a high-scam item and the seller delivery responsibility is only to the domestic reshipper address.

If the buyer filed a INR with eBay you should be able to respond to the case providing the tracking information that shows delivery to the FF and citing the buyers loss of MBG protection since they used a FF. See last line below
