So this is just odd. I know its most likely a USPS issue, but was curious if anyone had ever seen something like this before.
So Monday night I was printing labels from Ebay for packages I planned to ship out the next day. I purchased and printed one too quickly (meant for it to be priority mail and not parcel select). I went in to cancel it and found that I couldn't because it was already marked as shipped and in transit. I looked at the tracking and the most recent entry (to the label I had purchased 15 minutes earlier) was:
PROCESSING EXCEPTION OTHER DELAY
Thats odd, I thought. However, the buyer had actually requested parcel select, and I was just going to upgrade it to priority mail to be nice, so I kept the original label. I dropped that package along with about 15 others off at the post office the next morning.
When I checked the tracking on those packages later that day I saw that 12 of them had that same entry on the tracking within 1-5 hours of the time I had originally purchased the postage:
PROCESSING EXCEPTION OTHER DELAY
However, they now also had entries for:
DEPART POST OFFICE, HAINESPORT, NJ 08036
USPS IN POSSESSION OF ITEM, HAINESPORT, NJ 08036
This is odd for two reasons. First, they are dated as about an hour and a half before I dropped the items off, Second, I live in Washington. Keep in mind these 12 packages were purchased by 12 different people, yet all eventually had the same entries on their tracking (they didn't all occur at the same time). Now, new entries eventually popped up saying that they were received at the correct post office, so I am not concerned. However, just wanted to see if anyone else has ever seen something like that happen before.
