Stopping clear tape from sticking to itself?

Has anyone found any tricks to stop clear sctoch packaging tape from coming off the holder and sticking to itself on the roll? Do professional packing tape applicators like this one  https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/H-464/Tape-Dispensers-Hand-Held/Uline-Heavy-Duty-Tape-Dispenser... stop the tape from sticking to the roll?

I know what you mean! We used the one you linked to all the time at work and never had a problem with them sticking unlike the cheap ones you get with packing tape. If I shipped more boxes - this is definitely worth it!

If you get one like that, it will eventually still stick.  Sometimes you need to clean it with alcohol.  Do get one with that has adjustable tension like the one in the photo.  I've got two packing tape dispensers, and believe me, different tapes like different tensions.

Even the cheap plastic dispensers that come with a roll of tape usually have two little brackets on the sides somewhere near the cutting ends, to help hold the end of the tape away from the roll.  Some brands' styles work better than others.

@coolthings357, Two purchase suggestions for you, both of which I got on eBay.

1. I have a similar tape gun, but quit using it when I found out about these dispensers:

Officemate Recycled 2-in-1 Heavy Duty Tape Dispenser 1" and 3" Cores Black 96690

The prices fluctuate, and I got mine for $21. I'm working solo, and it's just easier to manage a strip of tape than it is holding the pakage & using the tape gun. When I was looking here for recommendations for a better tape gun (just like you!) I found a post about this tape dispenser.

2. The tape itself really does matter. I use Sparco 60041, and it's awesome. It's heavy duty, and I  use less than I did of any other tape I'd tried. Best of all, it doesn't flop around like cheaper tape does. Even if I manage to let it stick to itself, it's easy to pull it back apart. None of the nasty tangles & throwing away tape like before.

This is an amazing solution. I was about to rip my remaining hair out. EVERYTIME I package the tape sticks to itself and then the war begins...Thank you so much!
