I promote almost all my item. I found out that my items are not sponsored. I used to see sponsored if my item was promoted. What changed? It seems that promoting doesn’t make sense anymore

Depending on the rate you set, I don't think your listings get the sponsored badge 24 hours a day on all listings. There are other sellers promoting at higher rates possibly. There are algorithms. When you promote, you will be sponsored, sometimes, in some areas. Your listings will be on the sidebar. If you have all your listings promoted at 1%, like the rest of the world, you are not going to see full time exposure. If you promote at 10%, you will see those items sponsored more. Maybe only in certain locations. That's why you will get 4 sales within a few minutes sometimes. This has been my experience and I can tell you it works. Expensive, but works.

Promoting at 250% to 300% is the sweet spot. Anything less is a total wast of time.

Your items are so unique and specific, it's a shame there is even a need for paying more for  promoting on top of  what you are alredy paying in various fees.

eBay only allocates a few slots for sponsored listings. The items that are picked to fill those slots are chosen from the pool of sponsored listings that match the search. 

Promoting your listing only means your item is eligible to be picked for one of those slots; it does not guarantee that it will be. That is because you are competing against other sellers who may also be promoting their items. 

The more listing that are promoted, the lower your chances are of being picked - especially if those other sellers chose a higher promotion percentage. So it sounds like your competitors may have started promoting their listings.

I'm not sure I understand your comment about 1% promoting. Everyone promotes at 1% and about 2 years ago it was great. Ebay wants more. You need to promote at 5%-15% if you want it to be like your 1% years ago. Think of it as a way to say "Thank You" to Ebay for the audience they provide.

Starting in September 2019, we’ll no longer show duplicate promoted and non-promoted listings on the search results page. If you are using Promoted Listings, only one of your listings, either promoted or non-promoted will appear in a given set of search results, giving buyers a cleaner, more relevant search experience. We will select which listing to display, based on factors such as listing quality, relevancy to the buyer’s search, and ad rate.

Promoted listings will continue to appear outside search on other pages such as the Home page, product pages, and other prominent locations on eBay.

If I use Promoted Listings, could my non-promoted listings ever show up in search results?

Yes. Your non-promoted listings will show when they rank higher than promoted listings. We will select which listing to display based on factors such as listing quality, relevancy, ad rate, and more. First one I checked was your Mercedes distributor cover. Yep, yours is there and it is sponsored. One bit of advice is everyone else says Mercedes-Benz and you only wrote Mercedes. Maybe get your keywords straight to help find buyers. I will let you do the rest of the research.
