Something other than a full business account

My accountant informed me that I need to have my ebay account associated with my business EIN, not my SSN. I am assuming that I need to open a new Starter store and pay the subscription, or somehow change my current personal account to a business account. However, I don't need a store. I probably sell 2 or3 items a month. Is there any way to be able to open a business account with an EIN without opening a storefront with the related subscription? 

On another issue, can a personal or business account (used for selling) exist without having a paypal account attached to it? Income seems to come through ebay now, and postage seems to come out of proceeds, so in theory a paypal account would no longer be needed.

Any personal account can be converted to a business account. No store is required. Sellers no longer  use PayPal to receive funds from sales.

 Buyers can use PayPal to purchase on eBay via eBay Managed Payments directly to bank accounts.

You need to study the Help pages for new sellers. There  is a lot to learn.

Okay, I successfully changed my account to a business profile with EIN. I think it went pretty well. And bonus, it seems like it was retro to the beginning of the year, which will keep my taxes in order.  I also deleted the paypal account so that there is no overlap. Question: Can I now create a new personal account for buying or selling on ebay in the future?

You can have more than one eBay account, each account must have a different email address.

Thanks everyone for your help. In doing all this changing around, I discovered that I already had a business account that I never used. Not a big deal. I changed my personal acct to biz, then closed the old biz acct that I didn't use. I trust that I can associate the account I have still open with the email of the closed acct, once they finalize the closing and release the email address.  Agree?

     Lots of people have multiple accounts, one for selling, one for buying and separate ones for posting on the discussion forums. With multiple selling accounts it may raise some issues you should ask your accountant about if you are going to use an EIN on one and your SSN on the other. 

     There were some issues last year when eBay issued the 1099's and ignored the EIN numbers and issued the 1099's based on SSN's. Caused a few sellers some headaches.

I think so, but it may take some time for that to happen.

I’m pretty sure that even though you’ve closed an account, it would be a good idea to get a new email address just incase the email you want to use it is still associated with a closed account.
