Sold an item via eBay secure local pickup, buyer scammed me

I sold an item to a buyer for $1000 via eBay secure local pickup. 2 weeks ago, he opened an Item not received claim. He closed it the same day as it was resolved. Not to mention, I had his 6 digit local pickup code so eBay should have generated a tracking number for me. 2 weeks later (today) the buyer received a refund. Called eBay immediately, and just got notified that the appeal was denied. Where do I go from here? Already tried explaining this to eBay's Facebook for Businesses. This is ridiculous.

eBay closed my appeal claiming that they believe their final answer is correct.

HI!
I see no $1,000.00 order you sold. Did ebay tell you it was paid?

I would still try and contact eBay again since you have proof of delivery.  Nonetheless, since this was a local pickup item and you have proof of delivery  I would take the buyer to small claims court.  Of course you need all the eBay claim information since the buyer is claiming non delivery.  eBay is historically bad at protecting sellers and I would use any option available in recovering my funds.  Small claims allows you to add on your filing fees to the claim.

Did you upload the QR code you got from the buyer into the tracking area? that code is proof of delivery (collection).

Contact eBay on social media and advise the situation, even if you did not upload at the time of sale, uploading into the INR  case should have been a win handsdown for you.

Are you sure you sold it through eBay? Your sales do not show any item near one grand unless 600 is near a grand.

"I see no $1,000.00 order you sold. Did ebay tell you it was paid?"

It shows up in their feedback as a $649 item selling for $1,000.   Maybe they bought two?    Seller may not be approved to sell digital items so will lose each and every case.

This is why I always, always insisted on cash for local pickups. I made that very clear in listings, and cancelled any local pickup transactions the buyer paid in advance. Never had a single defect or complaint, as long as the sale is marked "paid" and eBay  got their FVF, they don't care.

Yes, I know eBay requires sellers to offer an electronic payment means, but they cannot force sellers to use it. Most non-scam buyers prefer to pay cash anyway, so they have an opportunity to try/test/examine the item before purchase.

For pickups, always demand cash or no sale. Never accept electronic payments for a pickup. Ever.

The item was sold 2 weeks ago. I no longer sell items for $1000

How did you get the code for the pickup? Did you physically meet with the buyer or did they just message it to you like your listings ask?

What does "local pickup" mean to you? To me that means I physically meet with the buyer or their representative to physically pick up the item.

I understand, but my preference is I like the money for things I sell being sent straight to my bank account. I get what you mean though.

Are you not in Managed Payments? How do you get the money sent straight to your account without a few days of eBay hanging on to it?
