Sold an apple watch and buyer messages me and asks if it works after it was shipped

I sold an Apple I watch with the condition listed as for parts not working. The second line in the description was that it doesn’t work describing what’s wrong with it. Sold it with no returns and shipped it. And the day before it arrives the buyer messages me and asks if it works. What’s my liability here? They said they’re going to call eBay.

Tell them not to open it and to write return to sender on the package and give it back to the postman. 

You still can't win even when customers don't read. Too many of them buy items from the photo on their phone and never look at the description.

Options are return for refund: or let em keep it and refund.

That is if they open an item not as described case....

Oh let em call ebay: they will tell em they will have to wait: If a case of item not received is open of course enter the tracking number.... eBay cs rep may open such for em... or not...

I've had a similar experience. I'll warn you to expect an INAD case, as soon as they get it. Some people just search the cheapest Apple watch and purchase, without reading the condition or description. I hope it doesn't happen for you that way but I would expect that being their next move.

This is why I never sell non working items. I do sell the parts but I disassemble the item and sell the pieces. 

did you put not working in the listing title? Buyers are notorious for not reading descriptions.

     I do not see the watch in your sold listings so not sure of the value but  tigerofhappiness  offered the advice if you can respond to the buyer before they open it simply them it is not working as was described in the posting and have them refuse the shipment or return to sender if the do not want it in that condition. Let them know you will refund their purchase upon receipt of the return. 

     If they open it then you will probably get a NAD case and at that point you can make a decision on how you want to handle the case.
