So after more than 20 years I actually had an approved priority mail insurance claim.
And they made my $6.47 check out to my ebay username and the bank refused it.
Isn't that nice. Obvious in hindsight that I should have either left the business name blank or put my real name there. Just posting this in case it can help anyone else. Honestly the process was not worth the time it took even if I had gotten the $6 and I am certainly not throwing any more time down that well.

Chasing such insurance claims for amounts below $100 are rarely worth the time, effort, and aggravation.

It is already endorsed for my bank deposit, and I haven't been inside the post office in the last year and a half, no way I am waiting in that line to maybe get $6. That would be throwing another hour into the half hour I already wasted on not getting this $6.

HI!
Do all PO cash checks?

Alrighty then!
Post 9/11 I'd received a contract w/ the US State Dept. Thought it was spam email but it was real and they'd wanted do business. So, that's what we did and they insisted all items be shipped via Postal Service to an FPO and we slapped insurance and signature delivery, registered mail on over large 70 packages. We hauled them all to the local PO where if looks could... Well, I'd not be writing this.
So out they go and perhaps a few weeks after are delivered at their destination. All we could see via tracking is they'd went to a certain zipcode and showed delivered. It was an airbase not that we knew that whereby Military Post take charge of the parcels. Few weeks pass and we get an email saying parts are missing. We were meticulous about handling it all but we sent off replacement parts accordingly and filed our insurance claims with the PO.
OH MY GOSH!
So PO is saying that obviously the military stole items from the parcels and they'd not cover the claims. We tell the folks at the State Dept. this and they said it's ridiculous and the PO claims are false. They told us to request record of all the parcels registered mail and that would show every individual who'd contact with the packages from the PO. So... OK, do that. Wait... Wait... Wait... The PO deny's us access to those records!
I mean this stuff went on for six months and we were dealing with our local Postmaster direct. Finally the folks at The State Dept. got **bleep** off enough at the accusations made towards the military, State Dept. & the associated US Embassy a call was made.
Wham bam and we got the payment VERY fast Stan!
I mean we were literally told by the local Postmaster to meet him at a local PO to pick up the funds. When we arrived you'd never seen a more humble bumble in all you're days!

Yep... Was crazy sauce Stacy.
As an addendum the State Dept. placed another order with us few months later albeit a quarter the size. The first order they'd placed was one hundred seventy of these, one hundred seventy of those and these and those and that right there. It was pretty cool, like I said I thought the email spam like one of those spam'y mails from someplace in Africa wanting me to expose myself... Ooops... Expose information LOL. But it was real and I was like, "Now what do I do?" Fortunately my other half at the time was savvy.
So we get this other smaller order and wanting to avoid any of swish, mish, mosh, flush we contacted the local postmaster to tell him, "Be expecting baby." He tell's us, "Can't you ship via FedEx, UPS, Consolidated Freight..."
I'll never forget the phone call, I was an innocent bystander when my other half exploded. She basically told him she could care less whether "He carried on his back" to the actual embassy but if he wants to call Colin Powell's people and try to explain why a The United States Postal Service should not be used by The United States Government by all means do so.
Oh my gosh I was in tears I was laughing so hard.
