Greetings everyone,
I just sold my first item on Ebay through auction and I have a few questions regarding the shipment procedures.
I currently live in Germany.
When I listed my item, I chose free shipment for the domestic shipping and standard international shipping (15 USD) for shipping to other countries. After my item was sold, I noticed that it says that I pay for the shipping, although the buyer is located in the US. I listed my item on ebay.com and upon reviewing it, I still noticed that 15 USD for international shipping are still there, however on the German website of Ebay, it says that the shipping is free. So now i am a bit confused as to what I did wrong regarding the shipping procedure. Could you please help me so I don't make the same mistake again?
I already checked the total amount of money I received from my item being sold and no, the shipment is not included.
Kind regards,

If you listed on the USA eBay site (ebay.com), then "domestic" means the United States, and Germany would be international.

I looked at the listing......it offers Free Shipping to the USA.
You may have added "Standard" as the shipping type but if you didn't state an actual price or use calculated shipping then it defaults to free shipping.

Thank you so much for the fast responses! I read a bit on the forums before that, but wasn't entirely sure whether that is the case. Now I know.
Happy holidays!
Cheers!

Note that when you list on dotCOM the USA is domestic.
Since you offered Free domestic shipping, you will lose on this transaction.
But you can Revise any others.
I sell on dotCOM from Canada.
Because I like using Free Shipping, I use Free Shipping for domestic/USA.
Then I go to International Shipping, I choose Flat Rate (we have no other choice really).
Then I choose Custom and click on Canada.
I want to offer free shipping to my own country too. My shipping fee for Canada then is $0.00.
Then I choose Custom again, click on the countries I mostly ship to (UK, Germany, France, Australia, etc) and
enter something close to my actual shipping cost.
As non-US based sellers we cannot use Calculated Shipping - only Flat Rate.
It is well worth your time to bookmark International Shipping Rates on the DeutschPost website.
You may even find it useful to make a chart for some standard packages to common destinations.
Although we are both listing on dotCOM, you may find that other non-US sites are better for questions that deal with our specific problems like delayed bank transfers. For example, North Americans rarely use bank drafts to pay while I understand these are common in Germany.

Thank you so much for the detailed answer! I actually had created a table for almost every country Deutsche Post is able to ship to, but unfortunately my tables didn't save (after I saved my draft, it didn't load up again and I had to reload the page manually which led to most of the tables not being saved) and I didn't feel like starting all over again. However, I know it would be a very good idea to set them up.
I am not that worried that I lost a bit on my first transaction, because I am more happy that the item sold and hopefully I'll get my first positive review once the buyer receives it and all is well. So that is absolutely okey.
Now that I know better how things work (which to be honest, I just should have read more, but didn't have the time), I'll be sure to list my other items properly.
Thank you all once again and happy new year!

I drew my chart up with a pencil and paper.
I don't trust anything important to the computer. It loses things.
Frohes Neues Jahr!
Healthy . Happy. Prosperous.
