Simple Question - New Listing Tool

Trying my best not to hate it...I can live with it except when I select "sell similar" from one of my current listings (Which I'm ALWAYS doing for similar cell phones) I am unable to then select a product from the catalog.  So If I want to select a product from the catalog I have to create a brand new listing each time and then manually enter in all of the other fields.

The old form made this very easy to select a product from the catalog from the edit listing form. Am I missing the option or did they remove it?

Simple Question - New Listing Tool

Bumping this because I am in the same boat as you and looking for an answer as well. I just got forced into the new listing tool. Just like you, I almost always use sell similar. I also cannot find a way to search for an item when doing "sell similar". The only thing I did find is that if you put the UPC code into the box for the product you are selling, it does search the database for matching items and will autofill some item specifics for you if it finds a match. But if it doesn't have all of the item specifics, it will leave behind some from your last listing in which you will have to manually change.

Definitely more of a PITA than the classic listing tool. I hope they add that feature back. I know the item lookup is still there when starting a brand new listing but filling out everything would just waste too much time.

Simple Question - New Listing Tool

Glad to know Im not alone with this disastrous disruption to listing inventory smoothly and effectively...I also use create similar when posting like-genre items, and used to be able to simply copy & paste the updated game title, search it in the Product Catalog, and  everything would automatically pre-fill....Was working pretty beautifully until now.

Best suggestion at this point is to send in as many "feedback" remarks as possible. When you finish listing an item, there's a link to send in feedback on the new tool...Ive sent in about 5 or so...I doubt they pay much attention to them, but maybe if enough sellers send them in with same issues they will  notice they made  a HUGE BOOBOO and make  a change!

@yankeefantodaytomorrowforever:

   Simple -- When using a laptop or desktop, open another tab on your browser and use it side-by-side with your listing tab for searching and comparing other sellers' listings.

Simple Question - New Listing Tool

Hey Duffy,

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, this would take way too long. I sell used and new media, specifically video games. When I list, I primarily list many games for the same platform at a time. Using sell similar, I would search for the new item. When found, it would pre-fill all of the item specifics that were in the database. Now all I had to do was make some simple edits to the title, item description and swap photos. Simple.

Now, I have to manually edit all of the item specifics myself, which is a lot of extra clicking. Listen, I know these are first world problems, but I see my daily listings being cut in half, possibly even more, with all of the extra work. I know I could start a brand new listing to get the product lookup, but then I need to create a full listing. Like I mentioned above, I could put the new UPC into the UPC box and when it does find something, it will pre-fill some item specifics, but it leaves some old ones behind which will require manual intervention. Before, when I looked up an item, not only would it pre-fill item specifics but it would remove the old item specifics from the last listing.

Like you said, I can use other sellers item specifics, but now I have to hope theirs are accurate. I could also go to video game databases to get all the right information, but once again, that is more clicking and more time being wasted.

I know my problem doesn't apply to everyone. Sellers who have a "something for everyone" type store or sellers who primarily list items with absolutely no database information will pretty much be unaffected by this. But not me and other sellers in my category.

Other than this, the new listing tool really isn't too bad. I just hope they add this feature back.
