I usually end all my auctions on Sunday, it looks like the 4th of July will be on Sunday. Should I end them on Monday instead? Could Monday be a problem, I believe most people will have Monday off since the 4th of July is on a Sunday, and maybe they will be doing something else besides looking for auctions on Ebay?

Depends what time but Monday might be better.
I would say if an auction is important enough to someone it won't matter what day or time it ends but we know that's simply not true, especially when it comes to a holiday.
So I'd go with Monday. Am sure you already have already worked out the best time to end an auction so that all time zones can be inclusive. 🙂

Any time other than Sunday night should be OK. Personally I would recommend having them end on Monday.

I have found ending them on summer holidays do not work out, I'm assuming because people are outside. I have found Thanksgiving day is one of the best holidays to end it on. So to answer your question, no I would not end it on the 4th.

IMO it does not matter. Sunday night was discovered as the pick choice 20 years ago when everyone was home on a desk top computer and sales were limited to auction style with no buy it now option. Most now have a smart phone in their pocket with easy access 24/7.
The bigger question is why are you even doing auctions anymore? You have the wealth of experience knowing what your goods are worth and can pull out the rarest documents to get top dollar at auction. Buyers want to get their items as soon as possible and with auctions there is an extra wait of a week or more.

I agree, I think auctions are a thing of the past.

Anyone who sells things people actually want and in demand should always do auctions. 80% of anything I list is at auction. You must not have as much experience as you think. You may want to see what the OP is selling and how many already have bids.

I looked at what has sold and the prices with a majority of items going for about 5 - 10 bucks. A teenager mowing lawns or babysitting makes more considering the time involved to aquire, list and ship a single item; not to mention the fees.
There were items that sold for a penny....
Not everything is in demand, only a select few items and the seller should have developed the ability to pull those aside.

I can't speak for anyone else's stuff but mine, but for me when it comes to auctions they are a total bust. So much money is left on the table it's ridiculous. I sell paper. Auction bidders don't want to pay top dollar, but collectors will. I'd rather go after the collectors with deep pockets wanting it now than those trying to snag a bargain, even if it means stuff sits for a while. The only time I auction stuff is if I want it gone and don't mind giving it away.

1) I found over many years that ending on Sunday afternoons always got the best results.
2) There is a definite place for auctions. Many items (OOAK and collectibles) are often going to go for far more than anticipated. I have had items that I would have gladly taken $20 for, wind up going for hundreds.

I am an impatient seller and buyer LOL
I want to get my item paid for and sent now, and I want to get my money the same way.
I liked Auctions in the beginning because they were more of a novelty, but that novelty soon wore off

so much money is left on the table for others to enjoy is how I look at it.
I try to leave some meat on the bone for many of my customers
its hard to get that retail or tourist money which is why I prefer other dealers
selling to the general public has its problems.selling to other sellers is easy because they know exactly what the deal is and are just not as picky.
I would sort of rather wholesale than to have my mediocre stuff just continue to bulid up.
I know for sure its too hard for me to keep track of a thousand pieces.
keep on ebayin

When you buy large lots of paper like I do, there is always going to be a good bit of leftovers - things that have no collectible value, no historical value - they're good for crafting only. I'll put these in lots of 50 or 100 depending on the size of the items and sell them off. I can list a lot for $5 at auction and it will either sell for $5 or go unsold. I can list the same lot for $25 BIN/BO and it will either sell outright or I'll get a best offer for $15 or $20. Either way that's more than the price I get at an auction.
Honestly I have enough GOOD stock right now on hand to have at least 4-5k items listed (don't even get me started on the leftovers lol), I just don't have the time to do it. Online life always takes a back burner to offline life. Maybe some day I can get some of it listed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't forget this is a Holiday is well..... Most government agencies are CLOSED, including the Post Offices.

Are you sure the Post Office is closed? I got my usual Informed Delivery email today with mail being delivered. Usually on days the PO is closed those emails do not get sent out.
