Hello. I've been on eBay for a long time, since 2008, and have been using it in tandem with my father long before that. I don't buy or sell much, but listed my Ducati to try and help sell it quickly for $5,450. Yesterday, while answering questions for a number of potential buyers someone hit the "Buy it now". The user account was created yesterday, and they have zero feedback. They have not yet made the deposit. Silly me, didn't require immediate deposit, and gave them 48 hrs. I won't do that again. I sent the buyer two messages as their address is in CA and I am in FL, to understand how they planned to transport the bike and complete the sale. No answer. I did more research on the address and it is a small apartment complex for those who were homeless and mentally ill. Not trying to disparage anyone, but I don't believe this is a legit purchase based on the address. In the meantime, my ad is now off ebay, and I'm missing out on potential buyers. I'm considering cancelling the order. Should I? I have a 100% positive rating. I don't want to damage that or lose my listing fee of $75. Any input would be great. Thanks.

I would wait the 4 days and then cancel for non-payment, should the need arise.

You can cancel the order if you cannot get in touch with the buyer. You do not have to wait the 4 days. It will not give you a strike against your account. Good luck**

Agree, you have to wait it out but please be careful with possible text messages that might pop thru with this buyer.
If need to be relisted after the 4 days, change that required $500 deposit to now and I would stick with local pickup only. Let us know how this turns out!

You gave the buyer 48 hours to pay the deposit, so I'd wait until then to see if they pay it.
They might own the apartment complex, you never know?

It's owned by a non profit, who I have a call in to find out if this person even exists since they haven't answered any messages. If it was a normal complex, I would figure maybe they had to verify bank info or something, but with it being what it is, it makes me very suspicious.

eBay Motors listings are non-binding. Either party can walk away at any time.
Your listings says:
Bike is Located around Sarasota FL, but I'm willing to help arrange shipping to wherever.
Since you offered it up beyond local pick up, there should be no concern about your buyers registered location. Maybe a relative will pick it up. Maybe your buyer is visiting someone local to you.
It only ended yesterday.
Many buyers list their work address as the preferred delivery address.
There is no sense analyzing all the what ifs about this transaction. As with any transaction, all you can do is wait it out.
Is immediate payment even an option in eBay Motors?

I think anyone selling some type of vehicle can ask for immediate payment. Now I'm wondering about that $75 listing fee. Does the OP have to pay this again if he waits out for the nonpayment to relist cycle?

I wondered about that $75 as well, but thought one question about the immediate payment was enough. 😂

T-Minus 4.5 hours until the deposit deadline is up. Still no communication, response to messages or deposit/ payment. Fair to cancel order once the deposit deadline is up? This guy is costing me buyers by keeping me in limbo. I truly believe he has no intention of completing the transaction.

I don't think you are going to hear from this guy, "good" old Craigslist and FB marketplace works great for selling used motorcycles...

I don't either. And I don't feel like I should have to wait until the 27th to cancel for non payment. Not paying the deposit is non-payment in my book.

As others stated there are MUCH better forums for selling used motorcycles and automobiles than eBay. If the buyer does not pay you should not have to pay the $75 listing fee although I noticed you currently have another posting active for the same motorcycle so you probably already paid the $75 on that one.

When all is said and done, add that bidder to your block list.
