In view of rampant frauds from buyers filing INRs, I was thinking about including an Apple AirTag with a prepaid return envelope for high value items. I recently got scammed by eBay and a buyer.
After sending my shipment I would enable the Airtag Lost Mode. I could track the package when in proximity of an Apple phone, even track porch pirates. What do you think?

@Anonymous wrote:Well, it was 2 separate items of 475$ shipped in the same box, with the same tracking number. And I did not check that signature confirmation box (That I honestly never saw). Here Canada Post does not give a S*hit about signature confirmation since Covid. They just put "Signature Not Available."
So, you are telling me that this 1$ check box will cost me almost 1000$ including eBay fees, double shipping and Gvt taxes?
Unfortunately, you goofed on this one.
As a seller, you need to know the rules required in order to maintain seller protection.
With an shipment at a pricepoint requiring s.c., your buyer may well have known or researched to find out that your lack of due diligence in purchasing s.c. would have gotten her a refund.
In this case, even when tracking shows delivery, the lack of an online viewable signature confirmation would have let her win the claim.
Whether it was really stolen or if she's working the system, I don't know. But I'm sorry it cost you.

I think it's a good way to be out an additional $30.

You already have tracking on your packages, for free. While the Airtag might be useful for tracking porch pirates, that's your buyer's worry, not yours. Once delivery is confirmed at the address you received with the payment, your delivery obligation is done. Not As Described disputes are not going to be helped by the use of an Airtag, and that would include fake damage claims or empty-box claims.
How did you get scammed by eBay, and how would an Airtag have helped in that instance?

As said tracking shows delivered to front door. Buyer said no package was found, maybe stolen she said.
She filed an INR, I responded with the same tracking number, and eBay said wrote me:
And then 10 hours later:
Outcome The case was decided in the buyer's favour. More info You agreed to give your buyer a refund, but didn't issue it.
eBay claim "You agreed to give your buyer a refund"
What?? I never wrote that, this is pure delusion.
An Airtag would have showed me if the tag is stationary at the delivered address or roaming around (stolen).
What do you think

How's so if I include a pre paid return envelope?

Low feedback sellers are often advised not to sell high value/high fraud products.

Appeal.

Did the buyer open another type of case after they lost the item not received one? I'm wondering what made eBay reverse the decision, and if you didn't offer a refund where did they get the idea you did?

Other than the kindness of my black heart. What incentive do I have to waste my time doing that? Or to stop me from just throwing it away after I open the package?

The time wasted is to drop the envelope where you pick up your mail. There is a slot on top of your mailbox just for that. Is that a waste of time?

She appealed to the decision. Did she make a false claim that I would somehow refund her? I'll never know, it is not written anywhere. Would you offer a refund as a seller, when your tracking says Delivered to front door?

Ok, 16 years on eBay here, 100% positive, 22 feedbacks. Ok, I am not NewEgg with millions of feedbacks, but it does shows stability. Would I turn evil all of the sudden? Chances are zero to none.
I had buyers that were not even born when a joined eBay.
So Reallynicestamps, I did what you told me, just now. When to the useless badly programmed Agent thing and requested that a human calls me. Got a prompt callback from someone (Impossible to remember his name) in a foreign country (India) having 4 or 5 children's screaming their lungs out in the background. Sound professional? No. It shows how eBay really cares about CS. So, that nice father of multiple children's, told me he would "suggest eBay" to open an appeal to my <now closed case, that cannot be reopened>.
Do I feel like it will go forward? H*ell no. Is it **bleep**? Will see.

Message eBay for business on Facebook with your appeal. Unless something is being left out (like the item being $750+ and you didn't do signature confirmation). Or the buyer told a real whopper to customer service and CS believed it. This should have been an easy win for you.

It's a small point, I know, but just to be clear: The mail arrangement you have is far from universal.
For example, I live in an apartment in a building with wall-mounted group mailboxes, and those boxes have no slot for outgoing mail. The carrier will take outgoing mail, if someone catches him while he's in the building to deliver mail; otherwise, it's off the P.O. or a mailbox on the street. (Yes, parcel pick-up can be arranged, of course, but that's a whole other situation.)
Mailboxes like mine. Nothing for outgoing mail.

This is the second time in just a couple of weeks that someone has reported eBay reversing a claim in the buyer's favor on appeal based on "You agreed to give your buyer a refund, but didn't issue it." when it was an eBay claim, not a payment dispute.
The last case I saw was reported by @soccerteeth, but they didn't return to let us know if they were able to successfully appeal or get more info on what happened.
Please appeal this @Anonymous. Your best best is to contact US-based reps via eBay's social media customer support (facebook or twitter). Please let us know what they tell you about the "agreed to refund" part of it.
This seems to be a new way of gaming the eBay system and I, for one, would like to find out what the scammers are doing here to get these appeals ruled in their favor. How are they "proving" that a seller agreed to refund when sellers are saying that agreement never took place.
FYI @katzrul15 - another one. 😟

Wow! Those US mailboxes are huge! Mine is 6x6 inches, and yes, I need to haul my *ss outside to mail stuff at minus something degrees in the winter. But have we reached this point, where individuals are so self-centered and others are just nuisances? I guess so.
