I haven't been selling for awhile, but years ago I shipped a couple packages to a re-shipper. I think it was the buyer (don't remember) that said to print the auction/listing number on the outside of the package.
I didn't get any instructions this time. How will the re-shipper know where to send it? This is a company in NJ.
TIA

There is generally a unique # or such provided in the address that alerts the re-shippper.

Here is some info you might find helpful.
The freight forwarding process can be broken up into six key stages, including:

Your obligation is to ship to the re-shipper, and your obligation ends there. After that its the buyers problem.

It's your obligation if the forwarder can't match the package to one of their customers and because of that send it back to you.
These days most forwarders work from a customer number rather than an eBay item number, the customer number is usually included as part of the address (unit# or similar). It's certainly wouldn't hurt to write the eBay listing number on the outside of the package, it might prevent the need for the forwarder to open the package.

I use a forwarder service and all I add is my name/shipper name on the package. They reship to me in Belize and call me when the package arrives in country

Yeah, every forwarder is different, some have certain requirements and other do not.
I use them occasionally in countries where sellers don't ship International, some go by Customer Name but most use a code number. The ones that use customer number can usually figure out who it is meant for if the number is missing but it can slow down the process.

No its, not. Sellers are not liable for problems with a buyer's address.
The seller's obligation is to deliver the package to the address indicated at checkout, nothing else. I could care less if the shipping forwarder plays basketball with the buyers package. If buyers choose to use such services, they will lose their money back guarantee protection if the package is lost or stolen after it reaches the reshipper.
I've dealt with INR claim after INR claim for years from buyers using these services, ebay has never refunded them, even told me to just ignore the messages from buyers regarding such sales.
