On a different ID, I have an experienced buyer from Canada requesting shipment to a US forwarder - this request is in an ebay Message. I am quite OK with shipments to forwarder, so when I sent invoice, I did request that buyer use their US address in Paypal payment, but it came through with Canada address.
I know the rules about shipping only to Paypal address but since request came in an ebay Message, I am asking whether this gives me coverage in case of INR claim. I seem to recall earlier discussion(s) here that supported shipment to alternate address provided request was made in ebay Message.
Anybody else recall this exchange or should I refund and send a Money Request through Paypal?

I'd cancel the sale due to a problem with the buyer's address. The buyer should have this address stuff all figured out before buying the item. They can come back and buy the item when they have their **** together.

Actually, I'd prefer not to cancel this sale as it's a good one. I would be inclined to refund the Paypal payment and send a Paypal Money Request instead. Would this work?

I lost out on a ship forwarding situation. In my case, USPS didn't have the item scanned when it reached the forwarder and the buyer took advantage of it and opened up an INR as soon as they could. Even though I could prove the address was a ship forwarder, it never showed as received and just pretty much disappeared.

If the request to ship to an alternate address is in eBay messages, you would be covered from INR on eBay but not on Paypal.
Before any cancellation you should make sure the buyer agrees to it through the eBay message before you issue the refund. Your refund should also always be done from the paypal transactions details page.
Using send money request has no path back to the original payment so the buyer could actually get a double refund.
Good Luck Selling!

Only if they’ve changed or will change their address attached to the payment.

I had to do that recently and it went fine.

You would presumably be covered with eBay according to the Blues although I’m betting it would still be a fight to win. You would not win a PayPal case or a credit card chargeback. If this is a significant amount of money I would definitely cancel and NOT ship to the alternate address. The buyer can’t change the address after paying and personally as a buyer I wouldn’t send payment directly through PayPal instead of eBay.

Make sure the "request" for a package redirect is actually coming from your buyer of record, and not some scammer hoping you will not notice.
