Shipping by using a buyer's account with DHL or UPS. Is it safe or am I risking a NAD or INR?

Sometimes international buyers ask me if I can ship items by using their own DHL/UPS/TNT/FedEx account, so that I don't need to charge them with shipping cost.

Is this practice safe in case of NAD or INR? What am I risking?

it is NOT safe!

Why? Because you don't know if they are using their own account or one that was stolen or "borrowed".

If the actual owner of the account disputes the charge the shipping company will come back to you for payment.

I opened a FedEx account many years ago as a one-off for an order I had to ship using FedEx, within a month FedEx started billing me for shipments that I did not make because my account number (which is actually buried in every shipping label) was hijacked. Of course I disputed the charges and FedEx removed them but it's an example of how easy it is to hijack a Fed-Ex, UPS etc account.

Just keep in mind that there are legitimate buyers who will ask this so decline politely.

In addition what jimmy said, you run the risk of an INR dispute, which you will lose.

Never relinquish control over shipping. It is a disaster waiting to happen.
