Why isn't eBay listening to the sellers, especially top rated sellers, about the unfair service metrics. They are trying to put everyone in a "one size fits all" status. There are extenuating circumstances with a lot of returns and they don't listen. I got caught up in 2 returns that the reason the buyer selected was not the real reason. Buyers don't understand how this affects sellers. Sales are way down, sellers are going to other sites to sell their items. eBay better wake up and treat their sellers better. They are all about buyers, but without sellers, there are no buyers. Top rated sellers need to have a little more consideration when it comes to these unfair, stupid service metrics.

eBay's general response to that is that your "peers" are subject to the same reasons, so they consider the metrics to be "fair".
With the October "seller protection updates", if you offer returns, and are TRS you may be eligible for some relief in the "metrics" if you have false return reasons chosen.
eBay has way more sellers(more product) than buyers, so their focus (right, or wrong) is buyer retention.

Ebays attitude towards sellers has always been that there are plenty more where you came from so we will not miss you when you leave. What they forget or don't realize is that there may be plenty more sellers waiting in the wings to sell on here, but they seem to keep losing many of the better sellers with the more unique items. Then these sellers are replaced by Chinese sellers whose merchandise takes forever to arrive, if it ever arrives, and whose quality many times is very much lacking. The former CEO continually stated that China was Ebays future but I hope that when Ebay finally finds a new CEO that this strategy is changed and that they once again focus on US sellers for the .com site as other countries and continents have their own sites also while .com is the only US site.
It may already be to late to regain a solid foothold with US sellers but if they want to once again be successful, it is not a wise move to purposely exclude sellers from this country.

Unless they remove all Asian sellers from the US site and give them their very own site - nothing will improve.

eBay's self created financial interest in penalizing sellers takes priority over everything else when it comes to service metrics. Why would they want to treat sellers fairly when they can just charge them 5% extra fees instead? eBay is steering the Titanic toward the iceberg.

I suspect this is because eBay does not really care what sellers think about the service metrics.
Sales are way down, sellers are going to other sites to sell their items.
Sales are not down for all sellers, and I doubt that enough sellers are leaving for it to matter to eBay. You are still selling here, after all.
eBay better wake up and treat their sellers better.
People have been saying this about eBay for more than a decade, and the unpsoken "or else" has never materialized.
without sellers, there are no buyers
Correct. But without 10% or 15% or 20% of the sellers, I doubt eBay or the buyers would even notice.
