I received a message from a buyer asking if I would combine two items in one shipment. I replied back that I would be happy to do that. After a few hours they messaged me again and asked for me to send them an invoice. This is my first request for an invoice, but my understanding is that the seller must initiate the invoice request. I replied back to them with specific instructions on how to initiate a send invoice request and heard nothing. I want to make it as convenient as possible for my buyers. DID I MISS SOMETHING? Is there a way for a seller to initiate an invoice for a buyer before they actually purchase the item? Any adice on how to best handle this situation is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If the buyer is purchasing at full price (no discounts or offers involved), the buyer can add the items to their shopping cart and click a link near the top to request total from seller. That will trigger the invoice request where you can enter the combined amount before the buyer pays.
You cannot proactively send an invoice without action from the buyer.
I find it's easier to set up automatic combined shipping rules. It doesn't work for all of my products, but it works for most of them, and I have the choice on which listings that combined shipping policy applies. You can set up combined ship by weight for calculated shipping, and you can also set up multiple flat rate ship rules if you want.
It's possible your buyer has not seen your message yet, or that they've moved on. Nothing you can do about that.

If it's a buyer from another country...not every buyer is able to do that.
eBay hasn't figured out to let all buyers do that.
I just refund the buyer of any shipping discount if purchased items separately.

And buyers on any of the apps do not have a “Request New Total” button to hit. That’s only visible on a PC, or on a device viewing the site in browser mode.
