Since you can't legally accept PayPal you can not sell on eBay at this time.  At some point that might change, so keep your eyes & ears open.

You are located in Sri Lanka.

Due to your country's banking laws, you cannot legally receive payments via Paypal, which is
the company that processes payments from buyers.  Citizens of Sri Lanka can only SEND
money.  Therefore, you will be unable to sell on ebay, because your buyers will be unable to
pay you.

Thank you eBay for eliminating the New to eBay forums, now the nonsensical posts from Sri Lankans who confuse post count with feedback can spam the main boards instead…

Don't use a fake Pay Pal account to get around their restrictions in your Country.

Have a great day.

It will be interesting to see what eBay does when they convert the Sri Lankans over to MP. The reason PayPal cannot be used by them to receive payments is because the current government will not allow it due to fears over money laundering and PayPal's concern over some liability laws pertaining to that country.

It will be interesting to see if Sri Lanka allows eBay to hook into their sellers bank accounts which will open them up as sellers but also puts the liability issues on eBay's back.

I'm unclear on which "current government" will not allow it--the United States? Or Sri Lanka? If you're referring to the United States, do you know when those regulations/restrictions or legislation were put into place? By "current" to you mean the present administration?

Maybe they'll use Payoneer . . .

P.S. Brian responded about 1099-K forms on that earlier thread. They're issued by eBay, not Adyen. Just FYI in case you missed it.

They mean the current Sri Lanka government. They are one of the main reasons why Sri Lanka is a Send-only country.

If one of the reasons PayPal can't operate as a payment processor in Sri Lanka is because the government doesn't allow its citizens to receive money from abroad, I don't see how it could be different with Payoneer.

@eleanor*rigby

Here is a little info about the latest on PayPal and SriLanka.

SriLanka has a Toltarian ( if I'm spelling this correctly) government and there is concerns with terrorism funding and money laundering like @dbfolks166mt stated.

Sorry I should have stated its the Sri Lankan government that has the concerns and is blocking the linkage to the bank accounts. I don't think it's just PayPal I have a feeling it would be any financial provider handling the transactions and linking to the bank account. Seems odd that they, the Sri Lankan government, has no problem with the linkage for purchasing just for selling.

I did catch the post about the 1099. Adyen is probably relieved they are off the hook for providing those and I am sure eBay is thrilled about having to do so.
