I haven't sold any item for about two years and i tried selling item yesterday but found out that my selling limit had been reset to 10 items, i was wondering if anyone would know the cause of that. I have unlinked my old paypal account and linked a new one and also changed my phone number, could any of these be the reason, or is it just because i haven't sold in a while?

If you have been away from selling that long then eBay will put limits on you
Happened to me just take time and build your seller account back up

Your last question answers it. Because you haven't sold in a while eBay considers you a new seller once again. Policies are constantly changing on here for sellers so the presumption is that you aren't up to date on current guidelines and policy changes. Your minimum will be upped as you begin to list and sell more items. Just get started and sell, sell, sell. Welcome back! Best of luck to you....

This is something new and not the normal new/ returning seller limit
Ebay has started reducing the limit on dormant seller accounts to $10 to prevent hackers from listing expensive items.
The first thing to check is to make sure that the credit card for your automatic payment method is not expired.

If the request selling limits increase is not working then contact CS to see if they will manually increase your limits based on your past sales history.
I recommend social media.
Contact customer service by selecting a contact method from the bottom of a help page, chat or call back are available for most topics :
https://www.ebay.com/help/home
Or you can also contact customer service by sending a private message on social media. You leave a message and an eBay employee will get back to you as soon as possible. To speed things up you can leave your registered account information in the PRIVATE message: Full name, address, phone number, email address, user ID, and a brief explanation of your problem.
They may take a few days to get back to you but it's usually sooner.

It is the norm and not something unusual.
eBay has done this for a long time, nothing new. If you vanish for a certain time then you you will have to build back up your seller status, nothing new and nothing weird.

Actually they just started reducing returning seller limits to $10, which is new.
It used to be $500

ok well 10$ might be new but setting limits is nothing new.
If I were to leave for a year and come back eBay would consider me a new seller and impose limits so in those regards it is nothing new and is totally understandable.

@coastaltechsolution. The $10 limit is crazy low and a seller just can't sell enough to qualify for a limit increase.
With all of hacked account reports I see i understand why eBay did this though.

well that does make sense , if you think about it, they dont know what youve been up for the last 2 years. a lot changes in that time. you could have been good, or you could have been bad. just got to prove yourself again.

"crazy low" is being kind. Utterly useless is a better fit.

I reckon it is a good thing that eBay is actually doing some sort of, vetting of sellers. I know another venue that takes, vetting sellers, to a whole new level.

Excellent post, @comics-scifi-collectibles , as usual. Just to clarify, the OP was limited to 10 items, not $10. But you are right, the $10 monthly limit is new.

Exactly. Utterly useless. Over the past 6 months a friend of mine a longtime seller who started eBay with me back in '97 and who never stopped buying but hadn't listed since 2016 decided to sell off some of his collectables since he was retiring. and basically get back in the game. The max $10 stopped him cold, as none of the 100's of personal collectables he wanted to liquidate was anywhere near that low of a price. After spending a month finding and listing under $10 **bleep** he had no interest in just to get his 4 figure 100% feedback account back to full selling mode he quit on it and took a booth in a local group antique shop.
He says he don't hold a grudge but his wife says he's been "cured" of his eBay buying habit of 23 years LOL

Tyler did say that the returning sellers that have low limits should contact CS to request an increase based on their past selling history. I know that contacting CS is a bit tricky right now but social media has helped others with this issue have their limits increased.
