Hello. I hope someone here can help me with this situation.
I have a buyer yesterday, bought an item and then sent a "request to cancel this order"
So, I was going to cancel it but today, the customer sent back a message, saying (to quote):
Hello!!! You can just go ahead and process this item… thr payment method is fine!!! |
Does anyone here in eBay had similar situation and how do I proceed?
Should I first contact with a buyer and cancel the order (and I suppose there's gonna be a refund to the customer?) and ask the customer to purchase again?
Do I need to contact eBay for help or else?
Thank you for your time and any information and solution to this problem would be great.

I have only had this a couple of times. Buyers sent the cancel request to me for items I had sold them but they had apparently purchased other items from other sellers and had sent the cancel request for the wrong item.

Hello!
My customer "claimed" that he/she used a wrong payment method. I'm not sure what it means...
And I hope "the customer" isn't an online scammer, that's what I'm afraid of.

I suppose I'd process the order with today's message. You're in no worse shape than any order without the message...

Has this ever happened to you, when you sell on eBay?

I can't remember a buyer (of mine) being on the fence after buying. But if they're flagging you in, go for it!

Hi james07,
If the buyer processed the 'request to cancel' through eBay, I would proceed to cancel, let the buyer know you were obligated to do so by eBay, then tell them they can rebuy it. If they just messaged you about, proceed with the sale.

Are they asking for you to remit your paypal or venmo account to pay? If they are, it's a scam attempt. I'd be leery of this transaction especially since you are selling somewhat expensive items and don't accept returns. No returns on eBay does not mean no refunds. Just my opinion. Be careful.

Thank you for your advice. I don't accept venmo but paypal. And customer didn't make a request to refund through venmo or paypal. At first, customer claimed he/she used wrong payment method but later messaged me back, and said "the payment method is fine"
I message the customer, whether to cancel the order, refunded and purchase the item again or to decline the cancel request and make the item for the customer. I'm waiting for the customer to respond me back, at the moment...

No returns on eBay does not mean No Refunds.
Worth repeating and repeating.
No Returns tells eBay you never want to see the item again.
It is useful if the shipping cost will be higher than the value of the item, or if the item is trashed in transit.
The seller will not have to pay for return shipping.
But the Money Back Guarantee means you will be refunding.

Just looking out for a fellow seller. It's a jungle out there. Please go with your gut, I would hate to see you get scammed. And like @reallynicestamps suggested, start accepting returns.
Good luck to you!
