I just started selling again after being inactive for a few years. Wow, quite a few changes! Can't believe they have a 10 item listings or $500 limit. Using "managed" payments as well. So I recently sold 3 comic books for approx $1600 and now I can't list. Plus I have to wait a month to receive my funds only because I don't have recent seller history. Yet I have been an eBay member since 1997 as a buyer/seller with no negative feedback.
So now I'm prevented from making money as well as making money for eBay from the fees they would generate. Has anyone requested and had eBay remove or increase seller limits to their account?
Clicking the "request a limit increase" button doesn't help. It just says I'm not eligible for an increase as I don't have 45 days of seller activity. Seems kind of ludicrous to wait 30-45 days before anything can be done. You would think limits should be placed on accounts that exhibit potential bad behavior and not on those that don't have any.

@cdex Your opening line says you were inactive for a few years. Scammers will hack into older accounts with a history and use that to scam newer buyers. People are more likely to purchase from an account with a history so that's why hackers do this. These are simply precautions in order to weed out any scammers and give you the opportunity to prove you are who your account says you are. Congrats on your three sales and hope you continue to sell. Best of luck to you....

Well... you're only sitting at 6 sold listings that you priced (in total) at just under $130. You're still under that listing limit, no?
I can see the 21-day new seller Hold on your funds for what you've sold (and your stuff sold well... kudos!), but you haven't actually reached the listing limit, as you've presented it. I'd be a bit befuzzled, too.
I guess if eBay's parameter is 45 days, then that's the best you can hope for. Sorry this is happening to you.

I believe it's the $500 limit (# of listings or $$ reached; whatever comes first) that is creating the issue. I tried to relist or list a new item before my auctions ended last night without any luck. I'm all for protecting buyers, but all the hoops sellers have to run through is somewhat frustrating. I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait for my account review for limit increases. You would think that your status as an eBay member in good standing would mean something. Just venting.

@cdex It's the inactivity for a few years that triggered this. It's something everyone, no matter how long ago they registered here, has to go through. Similar with new accounts, even if the account holder has another account that is active and years old. We still had to go through the 'new seller' routine. It's unfortunate that the bad apples have created the necessity for this.

Don't hit the request raise limit button actually contact ebay for business on Facebook and tell them the story. I am sure you'll have a better chance or contact ebay in help pages and ask them to call you back. Actually speaking to a rep asking for a limit will give you a better chance that they raise the limit for you. It seems like they are treating you as a new seller. The new sellers have these limits to stop them listing $800+ item and getting scammed.

When all else fails... go to the Help & Contact pages. There, I found this:
We'll review your account every month and adjust the limits automatically based on your sales volume and the feedback you've received from buyers. Remember, your active and sold listings count toward your monthly limit.
Aha! We didn't have the whole equation!
Where you and I see 'Listing Limits', and see that you're not near listing 10 listings or a $500 listing value, we're confused.
But we're confused by the missing variables (to the limit adjustment)... sales volume and feedback.
Gotta admit... they sold pretty well. I admire your patience and hope you have a truckload of 'em! Good luck!

Only I think once did I ever see a notice they automatically reviewed and raised my seller limits.
But that may also be due to an incident where they claimed my account was linked to one in Slovenia or some eastern European nation that sold nothing anything like I did. After the argument over that an agent with a brain changed my selling limits from zero to an absurdly high figure, like an annual amount it would take me a lifetime to reach.

Our monthly selling limit also started at $500. It is now $30 million. Be patient.

Thanks. Now I just need to find an agent with a brain that I can talk to. 😉 Usually they just rehash policy and won't listen to reason.

Thanks. That will be my next course of action. Hopefully I'll talk to someone with reason.
