Sellers: ebay Reports Q3 Results and Provides Q4 Forecast on Wed, Nov 2nd

I am hoping there might be some mention of any plans ebay has for Q4, especially marketing plans, and maybe an update on things like the photo upgrade which we are supposed to see in "the November time frame" And sometimes they even provide a few hints about the upcoming year.

@mam98031  Aside from the basics, such as GMV, revenue, buyer numbers up or down, PLs impact on revenue, etc, I'll be curious to hear any change (up or down) in their forecast for Q4, and any updates on initiatives such as livestreaming, the pending increase in Gallery Photos, anything they might have to say regarding adoption rates of some of the newer features (such as listing and store videos), and they have been known to "pre-announce" some changes they plan for next year---such as, will the next "Vertical" be furniture and housewares, or something else. And, as I mentioned in my first post, I'd love to hear them talk about the marketing plans for Q4.

All of this is the sort of stuff they have talked about in the past, but they or may not address any of it. Over the years, I have made it a habit to read the reports and listen (when I can) to the Conference Call with stock analysts. I sometimes post about what I learn, but less need to do that these days, since I'm sure @valueaddedresource will cover it in her blog.

Amazon reported today, and it wasn't pretty. Not all bad, but enough to worry investors, especially the Q4 forecast. If Amazon is facing a tough time, it's hard to imagine that ebay is going to be rainbows and unicorns....

Our sales there have slowed - nothing like e-Bay's Sloth-fest, but slower than last year and that is saying something as we are all FBA now.  Typically, it rawks until mid January.

If e-Bay was going to advertise (unless their PR team are total morons and that IS possible), the marketing campaigns would have been well underway for the Holidays in Sept/early Oct.  They would not be waiting until Nov to talk about marketing and Holiday Ads.

Then again - it is e-Bay.  I guess anything is possible.  LOTU (land of the under-whelmed).  lol

@katzrul15 In the past, ebay has actually said things like "the holiday season begins Nov 1st". Of course, they have said that shoppers are starting earlier than ever this year, so as you say, if they are planning anything, it would have started by now. I asked about it on another thread, and I'm waiting to see if we hear anything from the Marketing Team, but I am not hopeful.

If they are worried about a poor Q4, they can choose to either go all in on Holiday Marketing, in an effort to drive sales , or they can decide to spend very little, to keep their expenses down.

I have my guess as to which choice they've made, but I'd love them to prove me wrong.
