Hi all,
Just wanted to vent and ask for suggestions. I sell roughly 80 to 100 items of clothing per month and that includes jeans. I have had multiple returns due to the item not fitting correctly. In my listing I include:
1... The true size I measured (waist and inseam) in the title
2...In the condition description near the top I include in all caps PLEASE SEE DESCRIPTION AND
MEASUREMENTS BELOW BEFORE PURCHASING.
3....In the description I start with ,in all caps, NOTE TAG SAYS 33x32 BUT JEANS HAVE SHRUNK AND ARE NOW 30x31
4....I include measurements for the waist, inseam, rise and leg opening.
Is there anyway to actually get people to read the listing? I get returns back with the customer saying " the tag says 33" waist but I received pants with a 30" waist"
I believe the only thing some people look at is the title and the pictures so I'm considering adding a hand written note for my second photo explaining if there was any shrinkage......is this a good idea? What other options have others on Ebay used to help with people actually reading the listing.
thanks for any help/advice

3" of shrinkage on the waist of a pair of jeans seems like a lot of shrinkage to me - are we talking womens or mens jeans?
If you keep having these issues on just jeans, I would re-consider selling anything that is not "truer" to the size from the manufacturer. 33 inches for a guy vs 30 inches on the waist is a whole different guy.
And you cannot get Buyers to read. They only see the words "FREE" and "1 day Shipping". Every thing else must resemble Arabic.

I wouldn't bother expanding on the "true" size. The tag size is all I use and never get return requests. Then again I am practically giving them away and have another 50 pairs of Levi's to list.

IMO Jeans are one of the toughest clothing items to sell.
You can put all the measurements in the listing but people are PICKY about how their jeans fit..
I'm not saying it's ok, people that particular about fit should shop brick & mortar LOL.
When I sell jeans it's usually only two brands and most people know their fit for Rock Revival & Miss Me- so I've been lucky.
Honestly, I think you're doing all you can do.

I would list by just the actual measured size, as that is now the true size.
Don't show the tag size. Cross it out, or cut it off.

I sell a few items like this - at one point I tried putting 'READ' at the end of the title, but even that didn't work. I finally made a keyboard shortcut for a confirmation message that I send to buyers shortly after they place an order:
Thank you for your order! This is a courtesy message confirming your purchase of [ITEM] - which is [BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ITEM], exactly as stated in the listing description. There’s no need to reply unless your order was placed in error. Otherwise, I’ll be shipping your [ITEM] out to you as scheduled.
Warmest Regards,
[SELLER]
My returns on these items have reduced to almost zero since I started sending that message (plenty of cancellations tho).

Actually the example I gave was just random numbers. Most of the sizes that are returned are not more than an inch or so and mostly in the waist.

I agree. I like the idea of sending a quick message after the sale verifying they are comfortable with the measurements.
