Seller Questioning Amount of Non-Paying Buyers

I am selling my vintage items due to major downsizing.  I have only sold about 25 or so items so far and have had 2 different people not pay for the items.  One buyer won 2 expensive items on the same day and hasn't paid for either item.  I don't see a place where I can leave negative feedback or even let other sellers know about this.  I did see a comment from another seller on this person's feedback that said she doesn't pay but I can't seem to get ebay to let me post anything.

the correct thing to do is to cancel for noin payment after 96 hours

you can also block the deadbeats for non payment

dont get to hung up on feedback or warning other, its just nor our job to do

if you want to be a good seller you cant help your fellow sellers and cancel after 96 hours

there are plenty of sellers who are going to flout the rules and attack in feedback

you really dont want to be one of those. take the high road and just forget about retaliation thru positive feedback

on a positive note a non payer is still better than  a buyer who wants a return/or forces it

Seller Questioning Amount of Non-Paying Buyers

Sellers have been unable to leave negative or neutral ratings for buyers since May 20, 2008.  How fortunate you are to have never had occasion to notice this before now.

All you can do is wait 4 days, then cancel the transactions selecting "Buyer hasn't paid" as the reason. The buyer will get 2 nonpayment strikes, and will find herself blocked from purchasing from sellers who have set up their site preferences to block bidders based on their strikes history.  Here is the Help page about what to do if a buyer doesn't pay:

Hello, I'm sorry that you have had this happen. Many folks have had this happen. First off, you are not allowed to name anyone on these boards, it is a form of shaming. So, you need to get that removed from your post.

Second, you cannot leave negative feedback for buyers anymore. Furthermore, you are not allowed to leave a positive with a not so nice feedback next to it. You can get in trouble with ebay and most likely they will get it removed anyway.

Third, when the buyer does not pay on day 4 I believe you cancel the sale and cite that the buyer did not pay. They will get a strike on their account. After so many strikes they cannot buy under that ID anymore. DO NOT KEEP SENDING INVOICES. It will keep restarting the clock. That is your only course to "report" the buyer.

Fourth, after you do this, block this buyer so they cannot buy from you again.

This seems to happen frequently. Set your items to a buy it now price with immediate pay and that may help you a bit.

The buyers seem to be protected much more than sellers these days. I have learned that just by reading these posts on this board for many, many topics.

Good luck.

The seller can cancel the transaction based on nonpayment after 4 days; i.e., on day 5.

Buyers are not automatically blocked based on their nonpayment history.  Each individual seller can set up their site preferences to block bidders/buyers who have excessive strikes.  Sellers who have all of their listings set up in fixed price format with "immediate payment required" don't bother with these strikes-based limits, because it doesn't affect them. So nonpaying buyers can still shop on eBay no matter how many transactions they abandon.

eBay used to have a "3 strikes and you're out" policy, but it disappeared shortly after the strikes-based site preferences option was introduced.

Yes, non paying bidders also use new id's or guest id's to do this over and over from what I read. So blocking doesn't really solve but it helps. Reporting non paying buyers helps to an extent but it appears it is all a seller can do.

I'm sorry this has happened to you.

It happens to all of us at one time or another.

My suggestions to you..

Set it up so that when an item isn't paid for, the system will automatically cancel the sale.

Also, setup that folks with multiple non-payments cannot bid or buy your items.  This one will cut way back on non-payers.

Just my Two Cents...
Thank you for being here!
